Teahouse for IND
The owner hopes to create a childhood traditional courtyard house, and at the same time introducesthe tropical rainforest vegetation of Xishuangbanna into the interior. Therefore, in the process of planning, the designer makes the first floor into the form of three space boxes wrapping a vegetation yard in order to meet the needs of the owner. The space design is sparse and dense, obstructed and transparent. The landscape can be used as a small square or a reception living room. The second and third floors are also different combinations of space boxes and landscapes.

In the process of this project, the designer repeatedly considersthe relationship between each space box and the vegetation courtyard. Neither "surrounded" or "island" layout can make people participate in the natural landscape very well, so he thinks about the third form, spreading the space boxes throughout the garden, and the participation of the garden between the space and the space, allowing people to fully experience the nature and relaxation brought by the vegetation courtyard.

The tea houseis based on dark colors such as blue, gray, and brown. The design is simple and full of details. It uses local rough stone, tough iron and blue wood products, and is matched with pure cotton and linen cloth bag. The cold and warm complement each other, forming a quiet and private space. The introduction of green plants adds a touch of garden style to the box, and also highlights the unique tropical rain forest of Xishuangbanna.
The project is located in the ancient city of Manjinglan, adjacent to the large commercial area of the ancient city. Before the renovation of the tea house, there were some problems, such as opacity, closure, and old buildings. After communicating with the owner and understanding and analyzing the tea room, the designer hopes to break the tradition while preserving it, so as to achieve the symbiosis of culture and architecture.
The project started in October 2018 in Jinhong and finished in July 2020 in Jinhong.
In order to highlight the respect for the local humanities and natural environment, the designer introducesthe local traditional architectural pattern and vegetation courtyard into the interior. And a large number of local natural vegetation has been introduced to reproduce the combination of tropical rain forest and traditional tea house.
Since the old shops facing the street need privacy, and having an elegant and simple tea house is what every tea lover wants, the design of the tea room naturally focuses on the creation of artistic conception.
The owner and his wife comesfrom Dali, so the designer introducesthe traditional enclosure pattern of the Bai nationality into the design of the tea house, usesthe outline of the Erhai Lake to shape the interior landscape, and pursuesthe natural taste of Erhai Lake, so thatthe artistic conception of tasting teacorrespondsto people's admiration for natural landscapes and the joy of life.
