Educational Institute for WEI CHENG LIN ARCHITECTURE FIRM
The site was originally farmland, the shape of the water channel is used as the design concept creating a streamlined and organic building volume. The architect not only smartly used colors and diverse spatial transformations, but also created an environment to nurture kids by beauty, germinate their sense of aesthetics, stimulate their desire to express, and develop their artistic creativity for a better formation of their personality. Blue, yellow, orange, and green Lego blocks imagery is used as the elements for the north facade.

The floor and walls of the architecture are painted with weather-resistant stone paint, according to childrens color psychological theory to reconcile a variety of colorful appearance. The building structure is reinforced concrete.
In order to create irregular streamlined floors and curved walls, the architects and construction team used different levels of arc-shaped geometric color blocks on the ground with precise on-site lofting. These extremely difficult challenges have been successfully overcome through the use of satellite positioning and the professionalism and hard work of the design and construction team. The final result satisfied the clients and campus users very much!
The project finished in August 2020 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan.
The architect himself has been engaged in school building design for many years and has a deep understanding of the needs of the educational environment. To inspire children's sensory experience, implement the learning model of hearing, seeing, and touching, and create a birds nest-shaped spatial volume, the overall space configuration includes various areas for natural teaching, healthy activities, arts, food safety education, and ecological education. The whole campus is rich in functions.
Located in a windy city, pleasant breezes are brought in with environmental control and mass design techniques to avoid the monsoon. Multiple activity zones are set up to suit theme-based teaching concepts, creating a knowledge paradise for kids besides turning the outdoors into living textbooks for sustainable green education. Flexible use of the intermediary spaces like outdoor and semi-outdoor spaces, implement a shared space concept, each corner of the campus is good for learning. The streamlined building volume matched with colorful tones extending from the ground to the wall.
The architect-designed an ideal kindergarten based on the educational concepts and needs of children with correspondence on the historical culture of the site and its natural environment, integrated with the urban green belt space and water canal heritage of the site. The overall design realizes the connection between the local community, living environment, education, heritage, and kindergarten space creation. Each design detail is conducive to the cultivation of the core qualities of the children.
