The project team would like to simulate natural conditions-soil, drainage, and irrigation by cooperating closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing department. Through a network of primary, secondary and sub-drainage systems that meet the requirements of soil, irrigation design and quality control to simulate natural drainage and soil conditions. Although the project is located in the northwestern region of China, it would like to shows the characteristics of plants with distinct seasons.

Production Technology

Compared with natural stone, artificial stone has more outstanding advantages like bright colors, high smoothness, uniform color, compressive wear resistance, good toughness, dense structure, strong and durable, light specific gravity, no water absorption, corrosion resistance and weathering, small color difference, no fading, radioactivity Low, no pan-alkali . All of these characteristics makes it become the most important type of decoration material in today's landscape decoration.

Design Challenge

Lanzhou is located in the northwestern part of China which has hot and dry climate. The planting strategy of the project is to extensively plant native trees and understory vegetation that can adapt to the climatic conditions of Lanzhou. In order to create an immersive, diversified landscape that requires only moderate maintenance, while meeting the sustainability of water resources.

Project Duration

The project started in May 2019 in Lanzhou and finished in October 2022 in Lanzhou.

Operation Flow

In order to successfully build a resilient landscape in a windy and sandy site,the project refers to a large number of case studies. Designers want to introduce drought-tolerant plant species that have been adapted to poor soil, poor drainage, and strong wind resistance on the high slopes of the loess into the site, mixed planting of native plants and introduced plant species.

Research

In this era of rapid development but lack of human care, contact with nature is essential for human well-being. The natural environment gives us inner peace and a moment of respite, at the same time, it also prompts us to think about how to protect its health and beauty. Designers deliberately introduced landscapes into commercial operations and theme parks to make contact with nature a part of people's daily experience.

Inspiration

Lanzhou is a forestry city, with profound history and extensive culture. The design aims at combining theoretical architectural design methods with local heritage such as Silk Road, Yellow River, Loess Plateau, etc. It starts with Silk Road, and merges the city history, Yellow River, urban forest into the landscape designing. "Forest" is the keyword of the designing.
