Designed to create interconnectivity between the outdoor and indoor, style it to look like a garden from the outside rather than a shop from the inside and approached to let the passersby to discover surprises under a sense of understated oriental timelessness.

The shop is shaped like a cell form and it’s located at the ground floor, an unbright corner of the mall. However, owning the special characteristic that sited near the communal passage with a blast of daylight and garden decor. This makes Kevin Yiu – founder of Minus Workshop to brought up the concept story of “a surprise journey to the oriental garden”, targeted to create interconnectivity between the outdoor and indoor, style it to look like a garden from the outside rather than a shop from the inside. each set of the banquette seater is designed next to a large window scene with a unique piece of potted landscape to provide extra privacy to customers. So people are able to enjoy their own piece of landscape while enjoying their dining. Additionally, each piece of the moss plate you found in the design were inlays and they were installed base on our design intuition, we first worked out certain modules of the mosses to create more than 100 foam plates and test fitted each of them on site for best visuality combination.
The project required to provide a welcoming restaurant design that is attractive to the passersby inside this busy mall. Client wanted it all age orientated to make the stereotyped Sichuan cuisine more hospitable. Privacy was one great concern too, client wanted an unconventional space that able to encourage private conversation, so small groups of customers from the hustle city can liberate there longer. Occasional private event was also another guideline.
The shop is located in the busiest (statistic-wise) shopping arcade in Hong Kong- New Town Plaza. The project started on June 2020 and ended on December, 2020
Their signature hot dish serves in a large pot for this shop, that’s why the space is planned in a 360 circulation, staffs can access the traffic from the kitchen to all tables effortlessly. Each set of the banquette seater is designed next to a large window scene with a unique piece of potted landscape to provide unique dining experience to customers.
The shop name "Dapab" is named after a beautiful scenic area in Chengdu, China. We studied the geographical character of the location first and begin to draw conceptual story out of it.
Dab-pa is named after a beautiful scenic area in Chengdu. this restaurant is missioned to land on the busiest (statistic-wise) shopping arcade in Hong Kong- New Town Plaza, intended to provide their unique recipe of Sichuan cuisine to its customer.
