Production Technology

Involve is marked by the distinctive geometrical and economical structural system. The equiangular spiral or logarithmic spiral in other word has an inherent characteristic allowing the structural members of columns and beams and cross bracing to repeat the same system of details at all connection. And It creates remarkable geometrical precision and patterned beauty by only adjusting the length of these structural components.

Design Challenge

The new architectural design and landscape design of Involve tried to revive the site that was once a forest. Involve was reflected on the geographical context. The form of the building was carved into a mountain shape and trees were planted around it. They create new forest in this area. The new architecture and landscape design try to attempt to involve not only visitors but also local residents living in this local area.

Project Duration

The project started in June 2016 in Japan and finished in September 2018 in Nisshin city Aichi prefecture Japan.

Operation Flow

The plane of the spiral is for induce communication. A rectangular box form industrial building limits interaction people in general. Users are constrained to move along the two axis direction only within the rectilinear layout. The spiral on the other hand is intended to maximize the flow and the number of interaction points. And the points generate communications as a result.

Research

The typical beauty of architecture is continuity and orderly arrangement. Mathematical formula also creates them. The creativity of Involve is architectural representation of the nature of mathematical formulas. The characteristic of the logarithmic spiral create not only the beauty but also economical structural system. The spiral plan makes contacts of workers inevitably and communications. And it generates various benefit those are improving quality and enhancing productivity and so on at last.

Inspiration

Mathematical formula rules the architectural norms in order to creating new architecture. The equiangular spiral or logarithmic spiral in other word has unique characteristic properties. Every triangles are similar figure and every diagonals are same on the spiral. Involve is reflected on those characteristic architecturally and create various effects.
