Office for DAYAO INTERIOR DESIGN
The client of this project is a traditional steel bar construction company. The overhanging method of the steel wire not only brings a linear penetrating visual effect in the space but also echoes the client’s own industry category. In addition, the entrance hall uses a large-faced concrete façade that connects to the ceiling as a partition, and the original appearance of cement brings out a simple and natural pure feeling. At the same time, it also implies that the company will move forward at a steady and powerful pace.

This project is a building materials office with a size of 50 square meters. The design team divides the upper and lower areas by the advantage of the original double-height space. Steel wire materials are used to support the suspended hollow stairs, and transparent imaginary lines are laid out to define the more secret office space inside and the corridors for external customers to walk. As the outer screen of the TV wall, only the natural cement plain color of the concrete was used during construction to show the pure appearance of the material.
Lightweight material, Black glass, office, Visual penetration, Low tone color
The design of this case only uses simple materials for production, including concrete for office TV walls, steel wire and iron, wood, glass, etc. Although the materials are simple, each of them has unique responsibilities and personality in the space. The steel wire suspends the hollow staircase made of iron parts and supports the office of the supervisor covered with black glass, presenting the concept of a lightweight, suspended black box in the space. At the same time, the office TV wall uses concrete as the material.
Since the supervisor's office and staff's office space must be placed in a narrow space of 15 square meters, the design team took advantage of the double-height of the building space and made good use of the mezzanine to create an upper and lower office space. Although space itself has a ceiling height of 4 meters, beams and pipelines oppress the use of the space. For this reason, the design team avoids beams and pipelines in the design of office seats and changes the area where beams and columns are depressed into a storage volume and functional space.
The project was completed in November 2020 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan.
In order to make the double-story office with plenty of spaces and volumes not fall into a heavy and narrow space visually, the design team only uses simple materials such as concrete, iron parts, and wooden work to design the space. At the same time, steel wires and hollow stairs are used to create an "imaginary" surface, which implicitly defines the internal and external spaces. The upper-level supervisor office area uses an L-shaped inward retreat method to reduce the sense of oppression in the office area on the first floor.
The design took advantage of the four-meter-high ceiling and used an open technique to design the ceiling. In addition to restoring the original height of the space, double-layer office space is designed with a mezzanine approach. In order to prevent the design of the double-layer office space from causing movement and visual oppression, the design team used steel wire cantilevered hollow stairs to create a penetrating visual "imaginary" surface, using the stairs as an intermediary.
The design team uses steel wire, wood, iron, and other lightweight materials to make the space, and uses steel wire to support the hollow staircase to shape the perspective vision of the imaginary surface and use the imaginary surface. The public and private areas of the office and aisles are defined horizontally, and the supervisor's office and the employee's office with black glass as the medium are divided vertically.
