Multifunctional Workplace for Emerald Design

Situated on a level of boutique office building at the fast-growing redevelopment city zone, with less than 100 square meter, the plan is subdivided into meeting rooms and an open lounge, comprising multifunction for both social connection and business diversity without cluttered feeling. Backdrops paved with marbles in deep colors, delineated with gold trims and illuminated warmth, creating an informal yet upscale oriental vibe. Curved transparent cubicles expand spacious visuality, soothing nerves and stress during meetings, fulfilling both privacy and intimacy, artistic and pragmatic.

Unique Properties

Influenced by digitized generations and complied with paradigm shift on commerce activities, the business relationship has developed from formal collaboration into gaining an intimate partnership. Meetings are no longer just for commercial purposes, and as a way of social interaction and a statement of corporate identity.

Production Technology

Probing into the materials: the titanium paneling on meeting room ceilings give a rational statement, whereas the wood-veneered ceiling above the open lounge sustains a carefree vibe. The combination between wall-to-ceiling materials is cohere. The balance of rationality and reassuring ambiances influence both moods and behaviors of people, culminating with a synthesis of workplace and guesthouse for socializing.

Design Challenge

With less than 100 square meter, how to utilize different sizes of meeting and to maintain spacious movement became arduous. The layout is thus planned out into 4 sections for different purposes: a supervisor office, an open meeting area, a private meeting area, and a lounge space for hosting events, without cluttered feeling.

Project Duration

Complete in December 2020, located in New Taipei city, Taiwan

Operation Flow

To maximize the use of space, the layout excludes walls as possible. The flooring color segments the front section and inner areas; afterwards, the glass screen subdivides the space into office, meeting room, and open-concept lounge, blurring boundaries between areas. While marbles and wood-veneerings are successively paved from flooring to elevation, entrance screens are swivel and directionally changeable, mingling with materials of glass, metals, stones, woods, and forms of arc. The metal band implies a direction, leading to needed areas.

Research

The interior space influences both moods and behavior. The titanium paneling pairs with wood-veneering on ceiling, giving a reassuring vibe. Curved transparent cubicles expand spacious visuality, soothing nerves and stress during meetings.

Inspiration

This project is situated in a boutique office building at the fast-growing redevelopment zone of New Taipei city. As a hidden gem and multi-functional hub in concrete jungles, the plan complies with spatial utility, regarding both privacy and intimacy, artistic and pragmatic mingling with oriental undertones. Black, seen from the flooring massively paved in marbles, is a symbol of water in Chinese Wu-Xing philosophy, which brings flows of universe energy and gathers fortunes. Flows of marble veins permeate philosophical connotations throughout spaces.
