The residential planning has been creatively layered like a barracks-style of arrangement, which give an interaction with the surrounding social areas and neighborhoods. While the building rises through the land and runs down the slope, it always creates a close relationship with the landscape and the solar orientation.
The idea of allowing natural light into individual residential unit by solar orientation along with land rise and slope down on site was naturally a challenge to this project. Through all the land consumption calculation with environmental and natural resources concerns, layering barracks-style of building arrangement was created.
This project is located in Sansheng Town, Jinjiang District in Chengdu, China, where is 19km away from the Shuangliu airport and 11km away from the Chunxi Road Business District. Construction scheduled to begin in May 2021 and targeted to complete by end of 2022.
This project is sited at the urban belt, Sansheng Town in Jinjiang District, where 4.7km away from Chengdu East Rail Station and 7.7km away from Chengdu Municipal Government. As a leader of urban-courtyard living, it is enabling easy access to both Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, where only takes no more than 45mins by car.
The research started by analyzing all the possible building arrangements which naturally allow enjoyment of letting the sunlight into the interior space. By a range of studies and calculations, we tried to achieve the goal by taking advantage of the natural landform, and natural solar orientation.
Inspiration comes from Chengdu, a well-known leisure city with slow-living culture and the ingrained slow-paced lakeside lifestyle in Sangsheng Town. The architectural design utilizes the modern and minimal style connecting with western Sichuan elements, which gives an authentic and profound life experience with local taste.
