Residential for Kuan Ting Design
Different materials interweave to create quiet poetry of space. Sitting on a single chair to enjoy the atmosphere of quiet reading, without too much decoration, just need a quiet moment to feel the beauty. The project filters out the noise of the outside world and the impurities of the mind. The rounded design of the ceiling, without the sharp corners, has the image of reducing disputes and collisions. A soft and harmonious tune plays, resonating with the calm and pure thoughts.

The boundary between the public and private areas is obvious. The reason is that tranquility needs to be gradual, and interior design is the best way to express this. The public area is an open plan, with a large desk and ceiling-high cabinets to guide the mind into calmness. Then, the wood-grained ceiling is connected to the private area, where the floor-to-ceiling windows of the master bedroom provide a wider view and the audiovisual room provides a quieter sound, allowing the mind to move from calm to tranquility. The design team guided the mind through a progression of spatial transitions.
Dark colors, marble, raw concrete, audiovisual room, gray.
Building materials, natural marble, Italian tile, painted wood veneer, raw concrete, iron parts, European system panels, engineered hardwood flooring, Moru glass, etc. The building materials are all in low-saturation and grayscale colors so that people can feel the visual impact first. Next, the design team used natural marble to create calmness like the earth, then the raw concrete create a calm atmosphere, and used iron parts and grayscale to present the details. In this way, the space not only presents a minimalist and tranquil simplicity but also has the warmth of home.
Because the space must fit the theme and meet the client's demand for storage, the design team used the material continuation of the molding wall to present the 'invisible storage'. This technique can weaken the volume and create a simple and refreshing space for people to pursue inner peace without distractions.
The project finished in May 2022 in Taiwan.
The client likes to collect CDs, read, and listen to music. For this reason, the design team planned a spacious audiovisual room and a study room. As soon as the client enters the foyer, there is a calm space, and then gradually feel the peaceful atmosphere between the areas. The gray stone and wood grains have a warm and just right feel, allowing people to feel the atmosphere of the space.
The name of this project is 'Walk into tranquility', which originated from the interest of the client. The design team observed the client's need to listen to music and collect a lot of items, so they used the natural texture of the building materials to outline the extraordinary flavor of the delicate life without being overly decorated. With melodious music, life has more possibilities. Each space has a unique design. The public area is based on a poetic atmosphere, allowing people to enter the space to first settle their minds before delving into the deepest of the mind.
This is the second time that the design team worked with the client. After the first pleasant experience, the second time the client proposed to realize the concept of a home with warmth. Since the client likes to listen to music and read and has a large collection, the design team took tranquility as the theme. The gray color space presents the client's spiritual characteristics and the collection completes the warm house in the client's mind.
