Proactive design approach was adopted to stimulating visitors to explore and participate during their visitation. When visitors walk around on a giant HK map on LED floor with motion tracking sensors, a compass guided them to the nearest spot and triggered a popup info box on the LED wall, providing a clearer geographic blueprint to comprehend the linkage and synergy of all projects. Another co creating game backed up by big data analytics was set up for real time showing visitors their town planning options that served as public consultation exercise.
Telling the story of a city development spanned almost 50 years in such a small area was the topmost to tackle. Also, the Hong Kong major planning and infrastructure initiatives involved plenty of information across various departments. Hence, massive communication works had been a time consuming task. As request, an inclusive exhibition was designed for public of different ages, ethnicities and disabilities. The team made effort to source amenities and materials such as audio guide, braille, stair lifts for any disabilities and optimise the visiting experience for everyone.
The exhibition started in 6 July 2022 in City Gallery in Hong Kong and ended in 30 November 2022.
Proactive design approach was adopted to make all projects informative, engaging and alluring. When visitors walk around on a giant HK map on LED floor with motion tracking sensors, a compass guided them to the nearest spot and triggered a popup info box on the LED wall, providing a clearer geographic blueprint to comprehend the linkage and synergy of all projects. In a co creating game, visitor played the role of urban planner envisioning the making of future infrastructure. A large digital panel real time showed visitors their town planning options that served as public consultation exercise.
Most notably the motion detection in sync with LED presentation for showcasing ten future projects of HKSAR, and the big data driven town planning panel for the Lantau Tomorrow Vision. Almost all core components of were digitalised for the ease of content update and reduce of any wastage. Recyclable PalmEco boards were widely used in fabrication. Equipment like LED monitors, digital panels, electronic devices were all rent based and worked out to be re used. Even more, the digital game Building the Islands of the Future is also an educational tool to deliver values of building a sustainable community for the future.
Envisioning Beyond Legacy was staged to ignite elation by impressing upon visitors how the HKSAR has planned to go from strength to strength after marking its 25th anniversary. It is about a journey for people of different generations and collectively witness the progression of Hong Kong.
