Conference Center Building for New World Architecture Design Co.,Ltd.
The conference center of the Global Industrial Internet Conference is located in Shenyang, a traditional heavy industry city which known as the Rust Belt in China. The building is a part of effort to revive the city. It mainly divided into two parts, the conference part and the exhibition part. The conference part is designed in a cylindrical shape, which has a similar volume and texture to the factory facilities that once existed in the area. The exhibition part with aluminum panel curtain wall creates technological appearance, which bring a new visual experience to the old industrial area.

Unique Properties
An exhibition and conference building. Different from other conference centers in China,it does not adopt a huge volume and a axisymmetric layout, but fully respects the local tradition, with soft curved shapes and building materials, it can continue the traditional memory, and be friendly to the public. It also provides sufficient outdoor space for citizens.It's a green building. The comprehensive energy consumption is reduced by 72% compared with regular buildings.

Production Technology
Structure Type: Reinforced concrete frame and Steel grid frame. Facade Material: Weathering steel plate,Aluminum plate curtain wall,Granite Curtain Wall. Green Building Technologies: High Performance thermal insulation,Energy-saving equipment,Photovoltaic power generation，Permeable pavement,Sunken grassland, Water recycling system.
Design Challenge
Respect local traditions and contexts while constructing a brand new large public building.
Project Duration
The project started in October 2020 finished in August 2021 in Shenyang.
Inspiration
The design was inspired by an abandoned factory that existed near the site. The shape of the building has a certain similarity with the industrial equipment in the factory. The facade adopts weathering steel plates and aluminum plate curtain wall. We wish to carry out urban renewal while maintaining the local industrial context, and create a good environment for the local area with a brand new yet traditional building.
Project Overview
Rebirth of The Rust Belt Conference Center Building has been a Silver winner in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design. Their work often incorporates original innovations and elicits a strong emotional response, making a notable impact on the improvement of everyday life.
