This building stands on a sloping site, the second floor is the public zone, including the entrance, living room, dining room, and kitchen, while the first floor is the private zone, including the couple's bedroom and children's room. As mentioned above, the entrance is on the second floor, and because the building is on a slope, the facade looks like a one-story house. The exterior is finished with black natural slate stone and marble-like tiles on the exterior walls and fences, and accented with wooden latticework and white paint to create a stately yet moderately soft atmosphere.

Unique Properties

This is a two-family house where different generations coexist. It is a two-story, wood-frame building on a sloping site. The entrance is on the second floor, which makes it look like a one-story house from the facade. The eaves are a maximum of 2 meters high, giving the house a strong presence. The exterior walls are finished with black natural stone, creating an imposing facade design.

Design Challenge

The design process was extremely difficult because of the sloping site.It would not have been easy to solve all the problems such as the impact on the neighboring site, the ground improvement work plan, and the sunlight plan, and to create a building with a beautiful, functional, and universal appearance.

Operation Flow

The entrance is on the second floor and serves as the main floor.The living room, dining room, and kitchen are seamlessly connected.The living room floor is two steps lower than the dining room and kitchen, and this difference in level sometimes functions as a bench.There is also a private room for the elderly mother, creating a space where all family members of different generations can relax.

Research

This is a two-family house for an elderly mother and her two young children. In order for people of different generations to be able to coexist, the zoning was devised in such a way that they share a living room while ensuring privacy for each other. The mother's private room, living room, kitchen, and spacious tray are located on the second floor, where the entrance is located, in order to avoid stairs and other steps for the elderly mother as much as possible.

Inspiration

The building sits on a sloping site, with the entrance on the second floor, so from the façade it appears to be a one-story building. The exterior walls and fences are covered with natural slate stone and marble tiles, accented with wooden latticework and white paint, creating a design that is both stately and moderately soft. The interior is a complete change from the exterior, with white and wood grain as the base colors, accented with glaze, creating a bright and fresh atmosphere.
