Residence for RT Interior Design
In this space dominated by dark colors, soft natural light is projected on the wall through the gap of curtains, either in bundles or scattered, and the golden texture of the TV wall creates a mysterious and calm atmosphere. The metal audio-visual equipment demonstrates the owner's taste. Light and shadow follow the stone and metal paint in the living room, dining room, and study room. Both the designer and the client focused on visual effects such as contrasting colors and lines. Many long horizontal lines are applied to create depth and layers.

According to the lifestyles of the residents, the designer arranged the dynamic sense of fluidity in the ceiling, floor, and walls to shape a distinctive visual effect. For example, the streamlined design of the entrance and dining room's storage cabinet realizes a complete entrance on the one hand and weakens the sharpness of the volume on the other. The open study room has a raised platform to give multiple viewing angles, allowing the residents to enjoy the beautiful scenery in different scenes. Dark-colored materials are widely used to create a stable and calm atmosphere.
Dark Space, Artistic Paint, Seamless, Mobility, New Apartment
The client prefers dark colors. The designer satisfied the client's needs and at the same time took into account the harmonization and aesthetics. The TV wall is the focus of the living room. The client wants the TV wall to have a sense of unity, so the designer applied artistic paint to achieve a stone-like effect and to avoid visual fatigue while showing the grandeur. The dining room ceiling is covered with stucco paint to create an uneven texture. The stucco paint creates a band to enhance the layer, as a divider, and to strengthen the axis of the space.
In the dining room, there is a large beam near the dining table, which limits the designer to widen or raise the ceiling. To overcome this difficulty, the designer adopted an innovative design strategy that emphasized the tension of the space by turning the shortcomings into a band. The material of the ceiling extends to the wall to form the axis of the dining room to solve the structural constraints, and at the same time adds a unique visual effect to achieve practicality and aesthetics.
The project finished in May 2022 in Taiwan.
The client is highly satisfied with the project, especially the design of the storage and display space. The client said that the original space had insufficient storage and lacked display space. However, the designer's planning effectively improved the storage deficiencies and created a lot of display space to achieve aesthetics and practicality. The client is also satisfied with the study room design. The project perfectly achieved a separate study with a view of the TV without being blocked by the sofa, allowing the client to read and work comfortably in the study room.
The name, "Cornerstone: Tranquility", comes from the fact that there are many different expressions in a dark-colored space. The designer likened the dark space to a country, with each site being a border. In the social area, for example, black and artistic paints enhance the contrast and achieve a unique textural layering effect. This planning reflects the client's pursuit of aesthetics and gives the space a unique atmosphere and depth of field. The visual construction is not complicated and shapes the dynamics of mobility and layers according to the lifestyle.
The site is a new apartment. The inspiration came from the client's pursuit of a living space with a unique personality. To satisfy the client's preference for dark tones, the designer used large areas of black and layered artistic paint to enhance the contrast. The seamless TV wall creates a unique texture layering effect. The project highlights the client's high pursuit of aesthetics and gives the space a distinctive atmosphere and depth of field.
