In the renovation project of Kunming Wangfujing Department Store, YEENIAN DESIGN seamlessly integrates the traditional Bai nationality's tie-dye craftsmanship, infusing a unique cultural charm into the 1900m² renovated area. Tie-dye, a renowned traditional handicraft of the Bai people, is celebrated for its natural colors and distinctive patterns. By meticulously selecting natural cotton and linen materials and incorporating modern design concepts, the project utilizes ancient yet exquisite techniques such as hand-tying knots and dyeing with natural plant-based dyes to create spatial decorations that preserve traditional charm while also aligning with modern aesthetics.
In this renovation project, the biggest creative challenge faced by YEENIAN DESIGN lay in blending tradition with modernity. Internally, the team had to balance the historical depth of the mall with the demands of modern consumers; externally, they were influenced by market changes and technological innovations. To overcome these challenges, the design team delved deeply into local traditional culture, integrating modern aesthetics and design concepts to create a unique space. Through innovative layout, carefully selected materials, and color schemes, they preserved the historical charm while infusing it with fashionable vitality.
The project took 10 months from design to completion, finally competed in Dec 2023 Kunming China.
After the redesign by the design team, customers can now shop more smoothly, feeling as natural as strolling with an old friend. The designers have arranged the space meticulously, with every store and rest area perfectly positioned, making the shopping experience enjoyable and effortless. The key lies in their understanding of customers' preferences, seamlessly blending practicality with aesthetics. Green plants, comfortable seating, and thoughtful details contribute to a warmer and more relaxing atmosphere in the mall.
The Kunming Wangfujing Department Store renovation project, targeting the upgrade of a 1900m² core area, was meticulously planned and implemented by "YEENIAN DESIGN". This project aims to reshape the shopping environment and enhance customer experience through modern design concepts and spatial optimization. The renovation focuses on spatial layout, atmosphere creation, and functional improvement, striving to create a comprehensive high end shopping space that integrates shopping, leisure, and entertainment.
The design inspiration stems from the Chinese Bai nationality's tie-dye craftsmanship, blending cultural heritage with modern commercial needs. Inspired by the profound cultural foundations of Bai people in Yunnan, the Design team aims to create a unique shopping experience. By delving deeply into the art of tie-dye, the team extracts the essence of its colors and patterns, incorporating them into the mall renovation, enabling customers to be culturally nurtured while shopping.
