Residential Interior Design for Farglory Group
Ebb and Flow is a residential interior designed to explore the convergence of coastal aesthetics and urban structure. The spatial layout adopts gentle curves and layered materials to reference the fluidity of waves, while maintaining functional zoning. Contrasts between deep leather tones, alabaster finishes, and titanium plated details help articulate visual depth and subtle motion. Sculptural walls and light reflective surfaces are positioned to evoke the glimmer of water, enhancing the immersive quality of the environment.

Ebb and Flow reinterprets luxury living by harmonizing maritime serenity with contemporary sophistication. The design’s fluid spatial composition mirrors the organic movement of waves, creating a seamless interplay between form, light, and materiality. Contrasting rich textures, reflective metallic accents, and sculptural forms evoke a sense of depth and motion, transforming the space into an immersive and elegantly curated living experience.

The living room and master bedroom feature wall is meticulously crafted from CNC-milled solid timber, undergoing a multi-layered skim coating process with sequential hand sanding and micro-polishing to achieve an impeccably smooth matte alabaster finish. This high-precision application ensures uniformity while eliminating surface imperfections. The dining area’s bespoke architectural paneling integrates recessed, indirect LED cove lighting, engineered through advanced photometric analysis to ensure seamless diffusion and eliminate visible light sources, achieving a sculptural interplay of form and illumination.
The greatest challenge was transforming fluid spatial concepts into tangible design while balancing contemporary urban aesthetics with oceanic symbolism. Internally, extensive research on architectural history and spatial dynamics was needed to refine curved forms for an immersive experience. Externally, CNC-milled wave panels required precise engineering, using 3D scanning, digital modeling, and advanced fabrication techniques to ensure seamless integration and structural integrity.
The project started in December 2022 in Kaohsiung and finished in December 2023 near the Kaohsiung Harbor, where the ebb and flow of the tides meet the vibrant pulse of the city. Embraced by mountains, the sea, and the urban skyline, the residence offers a sweeping panorama that seamlessly blends the serenity of nature with the dynamic energy of modern life.
Surrounded by mountains, the sea, rivers, the harbor, and the city skyline, Ebb and Flow offers a breathtaking panorama where nature and urban energy converge. Positioned in an international port city, its expansive interiors echo the fluidity of the ocean, seamlessly blending contemporary artistry with architectural form. Thoughtfully layered materials and dynamic compositions create a space that feels organic yet refined, where overlapping textures and shifting perspectives reflect the natural rhythm of the landscape.
This project used applied design research to explore how spatial flow and materiality affect perception in luxury living. The goal was to create a space that feels both fluid and calm. Using site analysis, case studies, and light-behavior simulations, we gathered data through 3D modeling and mock-ups. Collaborating with designers, artisans, and future residents, we developed custom prototypes, including on-site hand-applied fabric panels and titanium-plated finishes. These handcrafted elements enhanced emotional comfort and spatial depth, showing how bespoke detailing can elevate luxury and enrich the human experience in real-life environments.
Inspired by Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s seamless convergence of ocean and city, this design reflects the fluid rhythm of coastal landscapes while embracing the sophistication of contemporary urban living. Nestled along the edge of Kaohsiung Harbor, the space translates maritime tranquility into a refined interior experience. By integrating architectural deconstruction, layered materials, and organic movement, the design fosters a seamless dialogue between nature, light, and spatial harmony, elevating luxury living into an immersive art form.
