Residence for Share Design
This home renovation transforms a single family house by combining practicality with beauty. The original layout was inefficient, with bulky beams and columns dominating the space. To align with the owner's vision, the design team removed unnecessary walls, introduced graceful curves, and added dynamic light strips, creating an open and welcoming atmosphere.

This renovation project transforms a single family home into a beautifully functional living space. The design team meticulously addressed the challenges posed by the original layout, which featured an inefficient arrangement and an imposing structure of oversized beams and columns. By reimagining the space to align with the owner vision, the designer skillfully removed unnecessary solid partitions and introduced graceful curved elements along with dynamic light-strip features.
Interior, Design, Residence, Modern, Style
To create a more inviting and illuminated interior space, the design team embraced an open layout for the public areas, maximizing the flow of natural light. They elegantly removed the solid partition at the back of the living room, replacing it with a sophisticated raised floor and sleek transparent glass sliding doors. This thoughtful transformation not only allows sunlight to cascade freely throughout the room but also enhances the visual expanse, making the space feel open and airy.
The design team has creatively integrated a sleeping area into one side of the living room and a serene Japanese-style room, both of which offer versatility and functionality. These two distinct spaces are artfully separated by an elegant movable wooden partition, allowing for seamless adjustments according to the owner's preferences and lifestyle needs.
The project was finalized in Taichung, Taiwan in December, 2023.
In addition to the architectural changes, the team strategically installed ambient light strips at key locations: the entrance, above the living room beams, and along the perimeter of the TV wall. The gentle curves of these elements are designed to soften the structural presence of the beams, creating a more cohesive and inviting atmosphere. The TV wall itself is a striking feature; it extends gracefully to the ceiling, incorporating a light strip that fosters the illusion of soaring heights.
The kitchen is equally designed with functionality and aesthetics in mind. A central island bar was thoughtfully added, providing a versatile space for the owner to prepare meals, cook, dine, or enjoy a good book. Complementing this feature, light grey stone-patterned panels were selected to create a seamless integration between the island and walls, enhancing the room's overall harmony. Meanwhile, the cabinet fronts, crafted from rustic metal panels, introduce an intriguing texture and depth, enriching the space with a touch of industrial elegance.
A standout aspect of the design is the inclusion of a serene Japanese style room, specifically crafted to indulge the owner's passion for tea. This tranquil space is not only ideal for tea ceremonies but also serves as a versatile retreat for relaxation, contemplation, and enjoying the surrounding views. With areas designated for reading and meditation, the residence now offers a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic pleasure, making it a delightful sanctuary for its inhabitants.
