Cruise Terminal for Simo Architectural Engineering Design Co., Ltd
Located at Tantoushan Bay in Dongtou, the site serves as a link between urban and scenic areas. Inspired by the concept of Symbiosis of Mountain and Sea, terraced setback buildings and green slopes are designed. They blend the mountain and sea elements to craft a three dimensional space. It connects the mountains and the coastline longitudinally, and incorporates an 800meter commercial waterfront belt transversely. Vertically, it zones the transport, commercial, and ecological corridors, forming a low carbon symbiotic entity.

In a complex terrain environment, how can buildings blend seamlessly with the "mountains and seas", and how can they provide people with a leisure walking space?
Location: Dongtou District, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China Design Period: January 2023
The base at Tantou Mountain in Dongtou constructs a three-dimensional space based on the concept of "mountain-sea symbiosis" and creates a low-carbon entity. The cruise terminal integrates the elements of Buddhist grottoes and seashells, creating the artistic conception of "Buddhist Grottoes in a Mirage City by the Sea".
The Dongtou passenger port draws inspiration from the curvilinear forms of seashells, integrating the morphological essence of Buddhist grottoes to craft the poetic concept of "Maritime Mirage of Sacred Caves." Resembling a colossal shell cradling a pearl, the structure materializes as a mirage-like seascape. Through layered archways and streamlined shell-like volumes, it enhances its landmark identity as a pilgrimage gateway while transcending Buddhist cultural motifs into contemporary poetics.
Dongtou Passenger Port Cruise Terminal has been a Golden winner in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
