house and garden for Stephan Maria Lang for private client
The Architecture is to express a relationship to nature in which the house is part of the natural environment - recreating a lakeshore with discreet interventions and a simple wooden shell sitting carefully on the landscape acting as a refuge. Lucent shadows from the existing trees enter the space. The grass area seems to extend the interior of the house. The aim of this project was to create Organic Architecture by expressing the site character, the articulation of space and material, the light design and the contrasting quality of private and open space.

A Summerhouse with garage, a boathouse and a Sauna perfectly integrated in to the lake shore. Natural aging materials support the concept 'Gesamtkunstwerk', where the Architecture, Garden and Interior spaces are in perfect harmony. The building is composed of a concrete body and a crafted wooden shell with a light axis running through it ending in a pier at the lake. The site was re naturalized with grasses. Wooden walkways lead to a boathouse and a generous Terrace overlooking the lake.

The lake clay was the most difficult part for constructing of the boat house and foundation of the main house.
2011 - 2013, lake Starnberg, Bavaria, Germany
It is a low maintenance, natural hideaway for an old couple.
We tried to reinterprete the athmosphere of the surrounding wetland area which is famous for its original beauty. It means only grasses, lillys and Filipendula ulmaria as mass plantation
The dream of the owners was to build a house onto the narrow lake site which has a close connection to nature combined with a Japanese atmosphere. The Japanese culture reflects a feeling of sophistication, perfection in detailing, open flowing spaces and the accommodation of changing seasons. The aim of the architect was to design a Gesamtkunstwerk where the Architecture is to express a strong relationship to nature in which the house is part of the natural environment.
