Bar for ARCHISTRY design&research office
With advanced and underlying design conception and construction approach, the building, once a dangerous one, was reconstructed to recall the attractive moment of the ancient quadrangle in the center of Beijing. Considering the difficulty of rebuilding and how to balance the style of the bar with privacy and respond to the whole context, the modern function was accentuated to blend into the historic surroundings to deal with the three paradoxes —— new and old, low-key and high-end, market and comfort.

Woods for decoration,Concerte for the facade.
New and old, low key and high end, market and comfort, these three pairs of antagonistic words often appear in discussion of design life in old but fast changing Beijing. It is more like an experiment when regarding it as an opportunity to expand the border of the complex culture and design concept. Balance the traditional symbolic image and the modern use function. It will produce the new space, experience, opportunities and imaginations while the project is designed, constructed and used.
The project started in April 2018 in Beijing in China and finished in November 2018.
The project is located in central of the city, with the different elements with conflict about new and old existing. The project has been designed beyond the traditional and also absorbing the new things.
It is nearly 100 years since the Republic of China this building has been standing in the ancient city area of Qianmen Dazhalan in the center of Beijing. This building has changed from a residential building to a spare parts factory, and then to a Mahjong chess and card room. After several transformations, it has changed several times. Now it will be protected and transformed into a speakeasy club.
Architectural space like the words Quad which contain the meaning of centrality and privacy, the modern use function blend in the ancient scene naturally, low key, comfortable and fabulous.
