This is a project for the kids centre accompanying the office space of Progress in Sofia. It is a multidisciplinary space where children can play, learn, draw, perform and discover the world around them by a variety of activities.
interior design, kids center, arts, education center
Space is flexible and all spaces can be divided or joined by the use of movable walls, and entirely movable furniture that children can interact with. Transparency is kept with large glazed walls to let the natural light flow through space.
The overall theme was developed around the Jungle. Different areas were designed in terms of decorations to match their function and activities happening inside. We used areas such as Monkey Island (arts atelier), Crocodile Bay ( for small children) , Under the Stary skies (for the Library), etc.
started: December 2017 finalised: June 2018 location: Sofia - Bulgaria
We integrated of interactive elements that children can change, build-up, reconstruct and rearrange. For example, we integrated into one of the decorations an animal that children can change its faces - thus by the mere act of play to learn about different emotions.
We made a deep research on what are the interests of children in different age groups and made a child-safety environment. Our main goal was to create a space that will appeal to kids from 2 to 12 years old and that serves with its flexibility as a background for the various activities that happen every day there.
The main theme of the space was JUNGLE. All different areas are named after different zones in the JUNGLE (e.g Crocodile Bay, Monkey Island, Under the Starry sky) and the overall theme is introduced and developed by the incorporation of friendly graphics and furniture in the space.
