The façade adopts durable material such as granite stone panel with champagne linear aluminum fins division and integrated large billboard glass panels with LED screens. Lower levels are covered by curtain-wall glass and glass box billboards. The mall features use the kinetic wind-driven pixel plates system in champagne color. In the mall, there is 4-storey water jet waterfall and super structure recreational bird nest as central atrium features.
Surrounded by large residential complex, Yoyo City has become an important extension of public playground. Dedicating the public space and pedestrian flow on ground level and allowing the vehicular access and circulation in basement level including the main drop off area have become the challenge. As much active as ground level, the basement is yet set to be another vital commercial arrival point and it needs to be equally important to the ground level.
The project is located in the city of Yinchuan, China. It officially started on December 2019. Currently, the project is in the Design Development stage. The grand opening will be targeted tentatively at the end of 2022.
Sited between a natural wetland park and a residential commercial complex, Yoyo City master planning strategy is to prioritize the pedestrian connection flow and minimize vehicular within the development. Hence, the main vehicular drop off and lobby is located in the basement. Yoyo City unique experiences are connected through the 8 key node spaces from east to west, providing an urban linkage connecting the community and its natural surroundings.
With a prominent site position between a preserved wetland park and a residential commercial zone, from the urban perspective, Yoyo City is not just a retail mall. It needs to act as an urban link. The design creates a city living room that offers an external communal belt and internal natural green garden. It serves to strengthen the connection between the community and its natural surroundings, providing diversified experience to the people of Yinchuan.
Inspired by its natural surroundings, Yoyo City offers an innovative architecture design that extends its energy into the interior green spaces. The convergence between the natural wave from wetland and urban energy wave forms the continuous fluid facade movement. Integration of floating islands to overall facade becomes the important highlight features in every visible and accessible corners. Yoyo City stands as a city icon that stitches its urban and nature contexts together.
