Production Technology

The project use stainless steel to build fan-shaped and circle interspersed model frame. The gallery structure is main support point to stand up. The steel mesh is used as the filling material of the frame to make the whole device look natural and light. While the light can pass through the mesh and be mapped onto the water, the circular area hollowed out on the water surface creates illusion that the moon is mapped on the water surface.

Design Challenge

The difficulty of the design is to implement Chinese traditional culture and gardening techniques in a modern style project. Show soft poetry in a hard and rational space. Our entry point is the design technique, because it is connected no matter it is before or now. Then through ingenious design details and modern materials, modern aesthetics and ancient culture are highly integrated.

Project Duration

The project started in June 2020 and finished in October 2020 in Yangzhou, China.

Operation Flow

The landscape design intergrates with installation art.Through both visual principle , light and shadow, it changes principles to present the final design effect.

Research

Research Backgroud: Yangzhou, is a deep cultural heritage of the historical city. Yangzhou is the city of gardens. Shangjia gathered in the era, in the ancient canals along the distribution of large and small exquisite unique gardens, there is a garden, Heyuan, small pangu and so on, but also Yangzhou people's memory of the deep moment of highlights, for Yangzhou culture has a strong sense of historical identity and the historical honor in the bones. The project is fortunate to be located on the banks of the ancient canal, like these gardens. Methods: The design aims to seek innovation in tradition, to interpret the new rhyme of the ancient city with traditional cultural symbols, and to reproduce the traditional life interest through modern garden-making techniques. Folding fans have also become a popular cultural element. Here we use fan faces and fan bones as our landscape techniques to form our screens and partitions. Refract history and interpret the beauty of life. Tools: The white walls on both sides contrast with the gradient punching plates to create a hazy romantic interface temperament, the interior landscape, in the refraction of light, if looming, giving a hazy initial impression, attracting further exploration of garden. Mirror stainless steel, natural symbism and artificial refinement, in sharp contrast. The blend of man and nature, looking for a reasonable balance, the natural tone of the site naturally appears.Green Island and stainless steel stitching, traces of man-made and natural, from sunrise to evening, the tree shadow, mapping different light and shadow transformation. Gradient screen, like a slowly unfolding folding fan, Yangzhou two thousand years of cultural history in front of your eyes slowly unfolded.Vertical grille, as if it were a standing fan bone, tells a piece of history of the popular charm. Light is sprinkled on visitors through holes in the metal web.Standing at the entrance of the sales office to look out, people travel to the painting, is also the person in the picture. Participants:residents and visitors Results: Sunrise to sunset, as time goes on, light rises slowly through the device, round the moon, on the surface of the water. As night falls, the stars and lights rise against the moon, the moon rises at sea, pulling your thoughts back to the bustling Yangzhou city where the song blows.Moon, light, water, device blend balance, the formation of 24, the scenery is also different.Several springs will static water surface, add a little dynamic vitality. Insights: Combining traditional culture with modern art, inheriting Chinese culture while driving the desire of the surrounding residents for beauty. It is one of the few gardens in China's traditional cultural city that combines tourism, future life display and cultural transmission.

Inspiration

The project was inspired by bright moon in Yangzhou. There was a Chinese poem was passed down from Ming dynasty. The meaning of this poem is that if there are three points for the beauty of moon, two points stays in Yangzhou. The design aims to seek innovation from the tradition, using traditional cultural symbols to interpret the new charm of the ancient city. Inheriting the wisdom of the ancients and using comtemporary techniques.Through monopolizing bright moon upon Yangzhou canal, to create a bright moon garden.Recreating the traditional and classical taste of life, and truly realizing the literary and elegant life style.
