The landscape design inherits the dignified form of Forbidden City and the traditional Chinese ritual of returning home, while drawing on the courtyard layout of the Summer Palace and features of Jiangnan gardens, thereby creating a landscape pattern of "one hall, two axes, three entrances, five rituals, and six gardens". The project presents different views in each garden, combines landscape and functionality, and perfectly fuses the ambience of Jiangnan gardens with contemporary lifestyle.
Demonstration Center, Chinese-style Residence, Classical Architecture, Jiangnan characteristics, C&D Inc. (Wuxi Subsidiary)
The project absorbs the quintessence of architectures in Tang Dynasty. Building roofs adopt Tang-style cornices and angles, and each building is decorated with customized patterns. The landscape design incorporates the concept "sponge city", which is a new mode of urban rainwater management. The materials utilized are quite permeable, pressure-resistant, wear-resistant, slip-resistant, comfortable and easy for maintenance.
Orient Bay is the fifth project that C&D Inc. developed in Wuxi. The biggest challenge of the project is how to create iconic gardens that distinguish from those in other cities such as Hangzhou and Suzhou. The design refers to the layout of traditional royal gardens, and meanwhile restores the aesthetics of gardens in Jiangnan Region, thereby creating unique landscapes that blend garden styles both in north and south areas of China.

The project adopts the layout and form of the Summer Palace to set a magnificent tone, and meanwhile adsorbs the distinctive liveliness of Jiangnan gardens. Based on site conditions, techniques such as hollow-out, borrowed scenery and irregular arrangement are employed to ensure that the landscapes within the limited space produce a sense of extension, thereby creating a tasteful traditional-style aesthetic that characterizes "indefinite forms within definite laws, action through inaction."
The landscape design is based on the local canal culture and the form of traditional oriental gardens, aiming to create a microcosm of Wuxi's culture within a limited area. The overall layout draws on the dignified form of Summer Palace, while the details refer to delicate Jiangnan gardens. In this way, the design integrates the quintessence of gardens in north and south China and truly creates various scenes in every garden, which offers changing landscapes to the moving visitors.
