Exhibition Space for Farnear International Design Center

This case integrates the product itself and the core concept of the brand, originated from nature, into the design of the store, so as to give the limited space a sense of art and artistic conception, while displaying the functions of the products. Each area creates a unique atmosphere according to the characteristics of the products, to have a change of scene with every step, and create a space with immersive experience. All the series of brand display props in the space apply loadable modular design for mobile reuse.

Unique Properties

NewForm is a top Italian bathroom product brand. This case integrates the product itself and the core concept of the brand, "originated from nature", into the design of the store, so as to give the limited space a sense of art and artistic conception, while displaying the functions of the products. The plane layout and foot traffic of the space are derived from the alternation between "light and dark". The designer separates the store into multiple spaces of alternating levels of light and shade, which breaks the traditional retail store model.

Production Technology

Starting with the NewForm products as design elements, the circular space houses an art installation by the name of "Dance of Water", which, hanging overhead, looks like a drop of water under the lamplight, while the dancing black lines try to break the spatial boundary. The small arched window is added with Chinese bamboo elements, to become a living landscape painting and a window for the interchange of Chinese and Italian cultures.

Design Challenge

The difficulty lies in the limited space. The space needs to contain more series of products to display, but also to make the space "vast" so as to let people feel the mood. What's more, the space needs to present a full range of experience in the visual, audio, touch, and other sensory level.

Project Duration

The project started in December 2019 in Shanghai and finished in April 2020 in Shanghai.

Operation Flow

The space on the right side of the entrance is cultivated into a mechanical atmosphere with the Park series of products. The dim lights enhance the depth and thickness of the space. The wall of Italian handmade ceramic tiles enriches the display form of the products, providing customers with diversified collocation and combination solutions. The dark green wall, going perfectly with green plants, runs through the art gallery, where art furnishings of great vitality keep a dialogue in a forest.

Inspiration

The core concept of the newform brand products is derived from nature. The idea of "the power of nature" suddenly came into the designer's mind, such as the tremendous power of the waterfall, the clarity of the babbling brook, and the mysterious and adventurous treasure hunt in the jungle. This is how the new brand space image started to be inspired.
