Unique Properties

Production Technology
Upcycled and sustainable materials were proactively incorporated in our design. For instance, a mix of wood residue and resin was used as a tabletop in the reception area, waste clothes were reused as surface materials, sustainable cork and carbon neutral carpet tiles were adopted into flooring materials and wall panels made from coffee grounds were installed on the work area wall.
Design Challenge
Expressing our company's design policy, "Combine new value while making use of the old" by merging simple texture of concrete with sophisticated Japanese technology. Art wall decorated with “Sakan paint” an ancient Japanese plasterer technology combines a wall monitor which visualizes our collaboration with various clients using the digital art content technology. Artworks depicting Sakuma Shozan who used to live in the neighborhood, the thinker of “Bakumatsu", the end of Edo period, was installed on the reception area wall to symbolize the new workstyle in this office.
Project Duration
The project started in May 2020 and finished in June 2021 in Tokyo.
Operation Flow
To activate the idea of CROSSOVER at the office, we designed a variety of workspaces in each floor for staff to choose by their needs. It drives more serendipities and chances of co-creation.
Research
Firstly, we reviewed our Corporate Identity to re-share how our firm should be. Also, interviews with managers, workshops by selected employees and analysis of work style by each department were executed to search for new style of work and to apply new functions to the new office. In design phase, we thoroughly researched the history of East Ginza and incorporated it into our new office design. After completion, “infiltrating program” was executed for all employees to instill new style of work at the new office.
Inspiration
We renovated three floors of the building that has carved a history of 60 years into unique spaces, based on the concept of CROSSOVER. The idea is to combine our knowledge and methods of space creation cultivated in various fields with the personality and expertise of individuals.

Project Overview
Crossover Lab Office Design has been a Silver winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
