Interior Design for Shanghai Wei Design Co..Ltd
Traditional office environment usually lacks the characteristics of personality and innovation, in contrast, art space has a very rich interpretation ability in these aspects. The core idea of the project design is to integrate the characteristics of the two to create a whole. Such a design concept not only shows the pursuit of versatility and humanism of contemporary design, but also becomes an excellent example of its trend.

The interior public area design of Pudong Jiangcheng Business Innovation Center challenges the traditional concept on office spaces. It seamlessly integrates the cultural essence of an art gallery, the functionality of a business office, and the relaxing atmosphere of a coffee bookstore, resulting in an interplay and coexistence of the three elements in the space sequence.
Office, Art, Exhibition, Space, Design, Recreation
To create a sense of simplicity and purity, as well as to bring out the wall art exhibits, the walls are adorned with micro-cement art wall paint. The first floor exhibits include paintings from Ms. Huang Yi's River of Stars and Feathers of Nature series, as well as the sculpture artwork The Witty Rabbit Ricky.
The design cautiously makes a trade-off of visual appeal and functional integration between the ground floor showroom and the office reception area. Leveraging a strategy of amplification and exaggeration, the design accents the ceremonial essence of the office entrance. It reaffirms the business nature of the space, and clarifies the boundaries between the two areas through a visual approach that embodies both the business atmosphere and spatial fluidity.
The project kicked off on August 2023 at Yuqiao in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, concluded in December 2023, and was exhibited and put into operation in the same month.
While primarily functioning as an office space, this space also serves as an art exhibition hall and gallery and is available to provide external services for arranging art exhibition projects. Notably, there is no definite boundary between the art exhibits and the office area within this space. Instead, the main exhibition space is located in the lobby on the first floor, while art pieces are also dispersed in other office areas, making a seamless integration of art and the workplace.
In a space like this, the minimalistic aesthetics shifts the observer's attention towards the architectural structure itself and its inherent artistic exhibits. The incorporation of deconstructivist elements heightens the expressive potency of the space, introducing intricacy and depth to the structure, while also leaving a visual and emotional impact.
Designers instill unique perspectives and insights into the daily workplace and the modern way of giving artistic expression, which do not contradict each other from a space design standpoint. Traditional office spaces often lack personalization and innovative elements, whereas art spaces are highly expressive in these aspects. The best representation of the modern design trend, which accents versatility and humanization, is achieved by integrating both spaces.
