Working Space for Shanghai Wei Design Co.,Ltd
As a facility primarily focused on containerized shipping, the design of this project draws from container elements, incorporating hard lines and corrugated features that align with its industry characteristics. The shapes of containers are abstracted into a geometric form, which is utilized in various elements such as facade construction and intricate detailing, ensuring that the spatial design agrees with the core business of the enterprise.

Situated in the coastal region of Rizhao, China, within a logistics park centered around container shipping, this building serves as the focal point. The design concepts and details, ranging from broad spatial organization to intricate elements, are all influenced by containers and their shipping related aspects, ensuring a harmonious integration of industrial qualities with the spatial experience.
Space Design, Industrial Properties, Relevance, Containers, Corrugated Elements
The design incorporates corrugated metal sheets that replicate the traditional surface texture of containers, serving as a fundamental aspect of the overall space. This is evident in various elements, such as the display of the company logo of Zhonggu, digital signage on each floor, the lobby wall, and the reception desk background. Collectively, the square spatial configuration and the use of metal panels evoke the sensation of a massive container.
In the corporate culture display area, the ceiling features a corrugated design, evoking the sensation of being inside a large container. The floor is designed around a cargo ship motif, with a water ripple pattern radiating outward, implying that the enterprise is a ship navigating through waves, steadily advancing and thriving in the commercial landscape. This design effectively communicates the core values to its visitors.
The project commenced in March 2023 and wrapped up in October 2024 in Rizhao.
The building comprises nine floors, covering areas for business, corporate culture exhibitions, offices, a restaurant, and staff accommodations. Notably, the ninth floor is designated as the dispatch center control room, along with spaces for business meetings and negotiations. The design underlines technology and modernity, utilizing reflective light strips on the ceiling and floor to guide visitors toward the control room along a luminous pathway.
The ninth floor offers a stunning view of the container yard to the east and the sea to the south. With this perspective in mind, the design incorporates the concept of a sales office reception to establish a negotiation area that merges breathtaking views with a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The flooring is crafted from black mirrored marble, creating a reflective effect that the negotiation area seems to be floating above the water, enhancing the overall ambiance.
Geometric lines and textured elements inspired by standard containers are integral to the overall design of the space. These features not only contribute to a visual identity but also reconcile with the industrial characteristics and context of the park on a deeper level.
