Salon for Chiun Ju Interior Design
Based on the atmosphere and impression consumers feel when they enter the space, the designer used curved shapes to echo the hair that falls during a haircut. Then the hairdresser tides the hair for the consumer, which resembles a white iron mesh made of interlocking wires. The hard iron mesh clings to the curved wall, softening the strong character of the building material. At the same time, the space is more clearly defined. The whole room combines modernity and simplicity to create softness.

The glass door and large floor-to-ceiling windows provide the ultimate transparency, making the space seem even more spacious and bright. The highlight is the giant oval lighting fixture in the center of the haircutting area, which reflects the beauty of balance. The large curved logo wall creates a perfect curve. White spray-painted iron parts outline a mesh of interlocking lines to cover it, enriching the layers on the wall. The terrazzo floor is both vintage and trendy. The designer broke away from the established framework and mindset to shape a unique and distinctive look.

Materials: iron pieces, baking paint, wood grain flooring, terrazzo, etc. Beige gray is used as the base. Its almost pure white but slightly different color tone reveals a stress-free atmosphere. The warmth of the wood flooring enhances the natural comfort. The ubiquitous ironwork is covered with white spray paint to preserve its nature and to give it a soft yet strong effect, adding a customized touch to the commercial space.
The venue is in a 35-year-old building. The designer made some changes to the layout to meet the salon's business needs. For example, the staircase connecting the first and second floors was poorly designed, so the width of the staircase was increased to 150 centimeters to reduce the bulkiness. The curvature of the iron parts and the rounded lighting fixtures in the hairdressing area are made by the master on-site with the use of machines, which was time-consuming but very effective.
The project finished in July 2023 in Taiwan.
The hairdressing area is the place where the designers spend most of their time with the customers. The designer made precise calculations on the distribution of seats and route planning so that even if a trolley is placed, it will not affect the movement or make the space narrow. The semi-circular light in the reception area and the curved light in the hairdressing area interpret the smooth rhythm, which can be regarded as the essence of the space and the inspiration of aesthetics. Not only do they create a lasting memory, but they also serve as an excellent example for the owner to expand the branch.
The designer installed large floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors to create a fresh and transparent space. The designer also took the image of a haircut to give new life and definition to the space, simultaneously demonstrating simplicity and creativity. The beige-gray resembles white and the warmth of the wood creates a healing and soothing first impression. When consumers enter the space, they will focus on the subtle and delicate details. The rounded chandelier in the center is a soft expression of calm. The apt, elegant curves are a hallmark of the brand's personalization.
The project is a Korean-style hair salon. The appointment system offers a premium service and quality, targeting the female clientele. To reverse the established image of hair salons, the designer used curves to create a unique sense of flow and added warm wood grains to describe the natural look and rhythmic beauty. The soft and cozy atmosphere makes hairdressing more than an experience, but also a stress-free journey that can soothe and relax the body and mind.
