Residential Apartment for GENTLELIVING CO.
The homeowners desired a cozy atmosphere. To achieve this, the designer used warm wood materials and indirect lighting, creating a comfortable environment. Inspired by the couple's charming appearance, arc-shaped designs were incorporated into the living area's TV wall and ceiling, reflecting their style. An open-plan living and dining area promotes family interaction. The expanded kitchen entrance, featuring a gray glass sliding door, allows parents to monitor their children.

The entryway features a multi-functional cabinet that combines a shoe cabinet, storage platform, dirty clothes wardrobe, and chair, enhancing the small space. The open layout of the living and dining areas uses light colors and cylindrical grille panels to create a comfortable atmosphere.

Because the distance between the TV wall and the background wall of the sofa is only about 3 meters, if the volume of the TV wall is too small, the effect of enlarging the space is not good. Thus, the design method of parallel expansion is adopted to extend the modeling wall to the entryway area by combining the curved plate and the cylindrical grating panel, so that the vision is extended to the left and right, and the problem of the limited distance is ignored, to indirectly play the expansion effect.
An obvious shortcoming in this case is that there are three huge roof beams across the ceiling, which creates pressure on the space. To solve this problem, first of all, the beam extending from the TV wall to the entryway, is not deliberately coated, but uses the height difference method to modify, to achieve the effect of blur and avoid compression of the height of living area, and then with the TV wall to create curved lines, extend the left and right vision, and weaken the presence of the beam.
The project started in February 2024 finished in June 2024 in Taichung City .
The children's room adopts the platform planning, in addition to convenient conversion to the wide bed that can accommodate up to four people, and also reserving a complete activity space with less furniture obstacles to facilitate parent-child communication and interaction. Aiming at the warm and sweet atmosphere expected by the house owners, we set the tone of the public area with pale milk color, and create uniform light and indirect lighting through the lighting design of embedded lamps and line lamps, highlighting the soft environment atmosphere.
The complete entryway area, in addition to the beautiful storage, lighting assistance, and end-view wall shaping methods, outlines the elegant relaxed atmosphere of the entrance, and also keeps full functions. It not only meets the needs of entry storage, putting on and taking off shoes, hiding sweeping robot, and also improves the function of the dust falling area. The entryway floor is remolded, and the surface structure is excavated to the reinforced concrete (RC) layer, to create a space condition with "height difference". At the same time, the surface is changed to scratch-resistant and wear-resistant terrazzo, which is not easy to dust, and eventually forms a dust falling area with a height difference of 5cm, which is beautiful and has a better effect of preventing the dust entering the house.
In addition to the basic living function, "warm and sweet" is the space atmosphere expected by the owner. Therefore, on the basis of a large number of wood building materials and warm colors, the lighting design of embedded lamps, line lamps and other lighting, is used to create indirect lighting and uniform light for each area, forming a comfortable home atmosphere, and giving the space more changes.
