Residence for Yujian.studio
The first impression is a curved foyer cabinet, and gracefully inviting entry. Moving forward, the open-plan living area unfolds, seamlessly connecting the kitchen, dining, living room, and study. Curves shape the space, allowing effortless movement like a meandering stream. The serene study behind sliding doors and breathtaking city views enhance the space. At night, rounded beams and columns subtly illuminate under soft lighting, creating a floating sensation above the city, where design evolves with life.

The project centers on a central axis that guides both layout and functionality. The designer integrated pipelines and cabinetry into a unified system, optimizing views while subtly dividing social and private areas with an 'N-shaped' storage structure. Hidden soft-close hardware ensures a clean aesthetic. Sightlines are carefully curated, with a rounded-edge foyer cabinet welcoming visitors and guiding them toward the open-plan spaces. The study can be enclosed with a glass and metal sliding door, while rounded structural beams create a cozy atmosphere.

The project features mineral-textured plaster, creating a refined wall surface with a matte finish that interacts subtly with light, casting a soft, diffused glow that contrasts with the glossy tiled flooring. The cabinetry is crafted from light-toned KD wood veneer, paired with stone-patterned tiles, metal elements, and glass, embracing a modern minimalist aesthetic. The color composition consists of 30% low-saturation tones and 70% colorless elements, establishing a calm and layered visual experience that enhances the space's natural ambiance.
The primary challenge was ensuring ample storage while preserving panoramic lighting. Traditional storage solutions often obstruct both light and circulation. To address this, the design integrates hidden cabinetry, making storage an organic part of the space. A distinctive N-shaped cabinetry system creates recessed storage zones accessible from both the front and back, maintaining a clean, uncluttered look. This innovative approach allows light to flow freely, ensuring that functionality and aesthetics coexist seamlessly.
The project finished in February 2022 in Taiwan.
This design diverges from typical projects by incorporating storage within an open-plan layout, creating invisible, pocket-like storage areas that maintain seamless circulation and order. After moving in, the family of four praised the space, noting that despite the ample storage, the aesthetic remains clean and uncluttered. The exceptional natural lighting and panoramic views of the mountains and city provide a relaxing and rejuvenating environment, making daily living both peaceful and invigorating.
Perched on a high floor in Zhubei, Hsinchu, this residence blends urban energy with a tranquil retreat, offering panoramic views and an open terrace. Designed with pure minimalism, the central axis integrates pipelines and cabinetry. The N-shaped storage system naturally separates social and private zones while maintaining openness. Hidden soft-close hardware achieves a clean visual flow. Curved-edge cabinetry guides sightlines, while the study's glass sliding door adds contemporary artistry. Rounded beams create a pressure-free, minimalist atmosphere.
Located on a high floor in Zhubei, Hsinchu, this residence embraces minimalist design as a lifestyle, focusing on the essence of space. With panoramic natural light and an open terrace, it feels like floating above the city skyline. The homeowner, an engineer, sought a rational, timeless home free from transient trends. The designer responded with an open layout, using custom cabinetry to shape fluid circulation while allowing light and shadow to flow freely, achieving a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics.
