This is just like the first light breaking the darkness before dawn and brings the family a whole new start. Except satisfying needs of the needs of client, the designer also used some simple yet gentle materials to show the meaning of the house for its occupants, through the use of color saturation and brightness to blur the boundaries of different areas and create a cozy field where every corner is comfortable to stay in.

Unique Properties

Different from the usual concept of home space, the client is hospitable and also has a need of showing her collections, therefore no matter it is about layout, routes or visual expression, the interior design was aimed at merging with the concept of reception and taking advantage of not having any main walls to blur the boundaries of spaces, then creating a cozy field where every corner is comfortable to stay in.

Design Challenge

The space is limited, however the functions needed are diverse and the client wants to let each one of the family members has independent bathroom and bedroom, the designer had to calculate carefully and waste no space.

Project Duration

The project finished in February, 2016 in Taichung City, Taiwan.

Operation Flow

The house originally was half-made, only with the basic structure and the partition walls, therefore there were a lot of things to be done and intergrated, including bathrooms, partition walls, and water & electricity constructions, etc. In the public area the position of the girder between the dining room and living room is lower, so the designer used the curved ceiling to create a smooth and harmonious view.

Research

Since the client is hospitable and also has a need of showing her collections, the whole space differs from the habitual interior design generally seen in Taiwan; dining room and living room both are near the entrance, and then if you keep walking you will see the living room, which is at the middle part of the house, is partially merged with 2 abovementioned areas. The designer uses the turns of shared aisle to define different spaces, this makes each part of the house looks independent yet connected. At the entrance the designer uses a small cabinet to draw a line bwtween indoor and outdoor spaces, this also brings an extending look. From here to the dining room, black color tone is used to make whoever comes in can feel the calm. After getting into the living room the designer chose to use the white color tone, symbolizing the breaking dawn and making people feel the warmness. With the gradual enhancement of color brightness and shades, this also brings a comfortable visual effect.

Inspiration

The client who has two kids worked very hard and paid a lot of effort to buy her first house. This is just like the first light breaking the darkness before dawn and brings the family a whole new start. Except satisfying the needs of client, the designer also used some simple yet gentle materials to show the meaning of the house for its occupants, meanwhile the design still matches with the classic style of this house.
