Resort for Zhou He
The project lies in Suichang, a county with thousands of years of cultural connotations. The overall design integrates artwork and time-honored objects into the interior decorations, retaining the primitive simplicity as well as the functionality and modern style. Local bamboo and green plants are used as natural decorations of the guest room, echoing with the scenery outside the window. The past is carved into every old beam and column, brick wall, earth wall, and every hand-polished furniture, which, together with idyllic outdoor scenes, manifests an ideal lifestyle.

The vitalization of village, traditional culture, old elm, handicraft art, Peony Pavilion, celadon, bamboo craft, time-tested materials
Materials: old elm, bamboo, celadon, old brick. The furniture is made of locally recycled aged wood. Those time-tested materials are reborn after re-cutting and fine polishing, engraving signs of age into the design. Learning from the nature, those local natural materials, the featured bamboo and celadon, are applied to interpreting the subtleties of the furnishings. It serves not only as a presentation of local culture but also as a collision of the classic and the modern.
The project is defined as a resort manor for urban residents to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the natural one. The designers encountered an array of difficulties and challenges in the process of project design on how to integrate the manor with the local ecology and environment while ensuring a comfortable lifestyle, and how to overcome the difficulties brought by the natural geographical barriers and rugged mountainous terrain to the implementation of the project.
Project duration: from May 2018 to May 2019
The project site boasts the distinctive Haochuan Culture and Black Pottery Culture, and is the cradle of the Celadon Culture-one of the world's intangible cultural heritage and the world-renowned "Tang Xianzu Culture". Many stories with profound civilization, cultural strength and pedigree connections are worth exploring. Through an in-depth exploration of the local culture, the design team utilized space as the carrier, and abstracted the stories into every detail though technology and design.
The village where the project is located has always been relatively isolated from the outside and is regarded as an "epitome" of the traditional Chinese rural society. As researches on the history and culture of the village continue, many things can be unveiled, including the utmost caring between the natives, architecture and food. The design is significant as it involves what kind of relationship between future travelers and the inhabitants will be built!
The project lies in Suichang, a county with thousands of years of cultural connotations, where Tang Xianzu, a dramatist of the Ming Dynasty who is known as Oriental Shakespeare, wrote the world-renowned "Peony Pavilion". The village is hidden in the mountains and isolated from the world. The project aims to vitalize the village by art and culture. The designers sought inspiration from history and traditional culture and combined modern design ideas to create a natural and easeful living state.
