Office for ED Design Limited

The design concept of SeekIn Office takes inspiration from the client's business nature, biotechnology and cells. The design studio aims to create a sense of clarity and simplicity through the spacious layout design with use of white and blue. Inspired by cells, the designer used curvy lines and irregular shapes to create an interesting and innovative workplace. Sustainability is the other focus of the design, by introducing pot plants in the office area, replacing traditional carpet with cement flooring, and introducing a garden terrace with plants, fountain and lawn.

Unique Properties

This project aims to create a sense of clarity and simplicity through the spacious layout design with the use of white and blue. Inspired by cells, the office is composed by mostly curvy lines to avoid the sense of rigidness in traditional offices. One of the major focus of this design is low carbon and sustainable design, with pot plants introduced in the office area, as well as the terrace garden with green plants, fountain, and seating area which employees can relax.

Production Technology

This design looks innovative with a relatively easy approach to build. We have used self-leveling cement (flooring), PVC (curvy shaped flooring), wooden partition with fire-proof plywood finish. The cell-shaped lights are LED light tubes covered with vinyl to create the special effects.

Design Challenge

The client was quite hesitant with the design at the very beginning, however they have come to embrace and love it during the design process.

Project Duration

This project is finished in 2018 in Shenzhen, China.

Operation Flow

Even though the design is an innovative one, the office serves its purposes well. Common working area, pantry, conference room, the place is well-lit with special designed lighting. The terrace is the perfect place for a breath of fresh air during a long day's work with green plants and fountain.

Research

The research evolved around how to best fit the design to the client's nature of business, while trying to include sustainable elements. We have come up solutions for the above with relatively simple building methods.

Inspiration

The design concept of SeekIn Office takes inspiration from the company's business nature, biotechnology and cells. The designer used curvy lines and irregular shapes, resembling cells, to create an interesting and innovative workspace.
