The latest R32 air conditioner effectively reduces carbon emission. The hear-recovery ventilation installed in the residence effectively reduce the differences of temperature between the indoor and outdoor space. The constant temperature in the residence reduces the needs to use air conditioner, thus reducing carbon emission and resource losses.
It is a redecoration to an old residence, which was a 40-year old home with the worn-out old wiring and leaking pipes. The poor ventilation and inadequate daylight in the living room were of great concern as well. The ceilings were not tall enough. For the residence located in the central city, its environment was disturbed by the exhaust emissions and noise, all of which were issues the designer had to deal with.
The project finished in July 2020 in Taipei, Taiwan.
The layout was rearranged. The original wall demolished in the old kitchen adds more sunlight in the new rear balcony, thus creating the semi-open kitchen. The island counter installed between the kitchen and dining room improves air circulation among the open area. The indoor space, therefore, has a better quality of air. The duplex ceilings are suitably decorated in the entire indoor space. The new ceilings lower in only 10 cm properly conceal the pipes and light fixtures.
Given the houseowner who does not open windows due to the exhaust emission and dust everywhere in the city, the residence is installed with the heat-recovery ventilation that maintains the sufficient air circulation in the home. Because of the high humidity in the Taipei Basin, the overall duplex ceilings are coated with diatomaceous earth which properly adjusts the indoor temperature and humidity.

Cherishing the gifts from nature from the perspective of a designer in a way to build a home with ecological design methods that is close to nature.
