Residence for TL Interior Design
The couple, along with their two children, values a modern design that supports family life, learning, and social gatherings. Drawing inspiration from their time in Korea, they created a guest area in the basement, capturing the ambiance of Korean restaurants while maintaining a quiet space for their children. The first floor features an open kitchen with light tones and clean lines, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Upstairs, modern aesthetics and personalized bedrooms for the children ensure a balance of function and comfort.

The basement, combined with the garage, serves as a guest house with a Korean restaurant vibe, offering convenient access for visitors without disturbing the children's living and study space. The first floor is an open public area, featuring a kitchen, white ceiling, colored walls, and matching marble tiles. Simple lines, muted soft decor, ample lighting, and views from outdoor windows create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The second and third floors showcase varying modern bedrooms.

The common area on first floor is dominated by classic black and white gray of modern style, with the original marbling floor from the builder. Art paint wall of milk tea color and leather sofa are also selected to make the space consistent. With the habit of loving cooking, the kitchen selects imported kitchen utensils from Germany, with neat and simple glazing black texture, free of handle, built-in electrical cabinets and exquisite storage hardware, which greatly increase the owner's storage demand and the convenience of cooking.
In this case, the basement is long and narrow, dark, and the height is only 220 cm. The designer divides the long and narrow space into a garage and a hostel, and then divides the entertainment space into two parts, with KTV club area and mahjong area, changing the space function and increasing the flexibility of use. Then extend the visual space with mirror ceiling, and transform the oppression caused by the low ceiling, fireplace illuminates and warms the space atmosphere. The originally narrow, dark, and low ceilinged basement has been transformed into a convenient and versatile entertainment space.
The project started in September 2023 and finished in January 2024 in Taichung.
In this case, the basement combined with the home style where guests often have parties and the preference for Korean restaurant culture, and the designer also integrated the garage with hostel to facilitate personnel access. In addition, the hostel reflects the attitude of Korean restaurant, combined with electric mahjong table, KTV club, wine refrigerator, smart lighting, etc., to create a diversified entertainment space.
In the private area, the designer interprets the historical trajectory of modern style through various elements, colors and lines. The master bedroom uses black, white and gray as the keynote, and three kinds of paint are applied on the walls, namely: imitation water mold paint on the back of the bed, cloud brush paint on the side, and special imitation stone paint on other walls. The layers are delicate, and then the proportion is brought out by lines, and intelligent lighting is implanted to show the neat and function of contemporary modern style.
The couple lives together with two children. The owner prefers clean and simple vibe, pays attention to life quality of the family, the learning environment of children, and has warm hospitality and cooking habits. As their relatives and friends often come to visit, the owner hopes that visitors can be treated without interfering with the children's learning environment. The owner's experience in Korea makes him love the unique casual atmosphere of Korean restaurants and pubs.
