Resort for KREBS+ Landscape Architecture
The concept was inspired by the fluidity of the water and the stunning local nature. It will be a park that in addition to the wave pool will have a gastronomic village, numerous bistros and restaurants, a complete sports area, a resort with incredible spaces, all inserted in a well-crafted landscape atmosphere, using native species and taking the issue of sustainability very seriously. A space of high spirits to be enjoyed by the whole family.

First National Park and Resort where the main attraction is an artificial wave pool that will allow year-round surfing for both professional surfers and beginners. There will be 900 waves per hour, 450 for each side with 150 meters of surf and waves up to 1.90 m in height, with the surfer able to stay up to 16 seconds on each wave. The project was conceived in a contemporary, deferential, timeless style, with spaces that sharpen the senses, sophisticated, friendly, relaxed and sustainable.
Resort, Landscape, Garden, Design, Surf Park, Hospitality, Wave Pool
The materials used in the project were natural stone, wood, concrete, steel, sand and lots of native vegetation. The technology of the artificial wave pool is from the Spanish company Wavegarden.
Surfland, as the name suggests, is the land of surfing! That is, the place with the ideal conditions to practice the most famous water sport. As a result, the project needed a tropical aesthetic that reflected the characteristics and purpose of the surf culture. And, even though in Brazil we have several beaches and waves, the aesthetic reference of the most famous places for surfing is primarily American. For this reason, it became a challenge to choose species that are able to adapt to the local climate and that, at the same time, convey the aesthetic concept that is in the imagination of the population - when referring to the surf landscape.
The project started in March 2018 and ended in June 2019 and is being built in the city of Garopaba, state of Santa Catarina in Brazil.
The Resort will have 7 buildings with 2 floors, the second with coverage totaling 270 apartments in the multi-property system. The development will have a complete infrastructure for other sports activities such as tennis, beach tennis, grass soccer, one of the largest skate parks in Latin America with approximately 2,000 m2 designed by champion Pedro Barros, trails, bike paths, fitness space, spa center, kids club, open mall, surf museum, surf and tennis clinics, swimming pools, gastronomic village are part of the attractions and activities of the resort. Anyone staying at the Resort will have an appointment to use the wave pool. What remains of the Resort's occupation will be made available to the public through a day pass to enjoy the attractions of the park and the wave pool.
The Surfland project, since its conception, had the purpose of generating the least possible impact on the environment. In addition to the environmental licenses established by the competent bodies, the project combined other sustainable development responsibilities with architectural, urban and landscape concepts. The built environments will be integrated into the natural environment and the land will be occupied only in the open areas, without the need to cut the existing vegetation.
The concept was inspired by the fluidity of the water. It values movement, nature and organic forms. From indoor environments to landscaping, every detail seeks to provide the public with a unique experience in line with the lifesyle of the Surfland Brasil brand.
