Kamio expressed the nature feelings by using the steel and wooden frames for hanging green planters. On the other hand, they also provided more artificial feelings by applying the stone and steel textures to the floor and wall surface. They tried to provide more complicate design expressions rather than just one design theme such as garden and green. As a result, this is making more comfortable atmosphere for the office use.
One of the most challenging in the project was how to hide the office functions such as power outlets in neat ways. Because it is a garden feeling space, the team wanted to keep the atmosphere as natural as possible. So, they needed to hide most of the office facilities and applications by embedding into furniture, floor, and wall.
Project started in May 2021 and finished August 2021 in Tokyo Japan.
First, Kamio planned and decided the locations and balance of green areas. Then, they tried to figure out what green volume is appropriate vertically. After checking the planter effects, they decided the final seating layout.
Kamio visited and had several meetings with the garden planter supplier. Then, the team researched the specific characteristics for each planter. Some planters are very ideal to grow in office while other s may can not be alive or needed very complicated maintenances. After the plater study including shape, they found out the appropriate use and setting location for each. This planter research was one key factors for the successful project.
Because of Covid 19, no more large offices are demanded in Tokyo. Many companies have started changing their working spaces to smaller and smaller while adding some more design aspects as their originalities. In this project, Kamio has created an office space with the park like feeling for garden love workers. He divided the space to 3 main areas such as window side lounge, center symbol tree table, and big communicative counter.
