This project use a lot of natural materials, including marble, wood, tree branches, etc. Through fine processing and blending of art, designer create a space that surrounded by nature but you can still feel the exquisite design, interpreting the relationship between human and nature.
The difficulty of the project lies in how art design meets the aesthetic and use needs of the times while maintaining harmony with the ecological nature in the process of urban economic development, so as to allow people to feel a peaceful, comfortable and elegant living atmosphere when living in the city, and to precipitate an impetuous soul. The designer left a large proportion of the space blank, removed the complicated things and kept the space simple, introduced the memories of the city, integrated emotions in the design, thus creating the scenery and atmosphere in the design, and arousing the resonance between people and the space.
The project started in 2019 and completed in September 2020. Located in Jiangling North Road, Nansha District, Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China.
At the beginning of the design, the designer hoped to create a space full of humanistic care. He conducted field investigations of the local cultural background so as to understand local customs. After collecting and summarizing, the designer extracted reeds, silks, fishing nets and other classic elements deeply rooted in the city. Through these elements, the design awakens the resonance between human and space, and balances the relationship between development and nature between disappearance and retention.
How to integrate natural environment, local culture and art in this project? The location of the project has its unique cultural background, the designer advocates that design comes from life and based on humanistic care, pursuing the balance between urban development and natural ecology. The designer conducted field investigations, experienced local culture, extracted elements from the natural landscape and ancient Chinese poetry, use those elements to connect nature and design.
Nansha district is the only coastal area of Guangzhou, as known as the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. The designer conducted field investigations of the local cultural background, a poetry of the poet Wan Sui from the Ming Dynasty came up in his mind. The designer was inspired by the poetry and integrated elements from Chinese ink painting, fishing village, reed and silk into this project.
