Residence for CTO Design
Located around mountains and by the river, the original house is actually not ideal. The almost roughcast old house has many large beams and columns, with the biggest one making the house just 215cm high. Divided with cross beams, the space is delimited into public and private domain. The bedroom, storage, hallway and even kitchen and dining area are all set around the center of the space, sparing a spacious space for the public domain. Next, the cross beam divides the space for two purposes: one for the cabinets in the piano room and the other for storage and TV wall in the master bedroom.

To make the space more visually light and spacious, in addition to our efforts in planar configuration to get a maximized space, we also create the visual lightness as lightsome as the cloud with the paper-like layers and shadow; the irregular arch ceiling the sky-like shadow and layers; A lot of circular edges create a sense of flowing rhythm; in the color application, white, dusty gray are widely used coupled with deep walnut color and a dash of black. The accurate proportion gives the owner sense of either lightness or heaviness, not only bringing lightness but also preserving the quality and coziness of home.
The owner of the house is a devout Christian. The 4 ingeniously-designed crosses hidden in our design allows the owner to discover and ponder. The cross in the hallway provides the first impression upon entering the home, so that the family can love each other in God's love and blessings once they get home. There is a hollowed-out cross hidden in the layer frame beside the TV wall. When the light is shed, the shadow of the cross is projected on the wall, murmuring the company of light in the world at home. The ingenious cross can also be found at the door handle of the kitchen cabinet, making the kitchen create the food for life. The big cross comes into view when you open the door of piano room. As the Bible says “knock and the door will be opened to you.”
The project started in Nov. 2020 and finished in Sep. 2021 in New Taipei City.
Where is heaven? Except the one deep inside, home is undoubtedly the heaven for everyday life. The owner can appreciate all the views outside the window at home while working; the family members can be fully enjoy the aerial yoga or exercise while kids are playing and chasing around them...
Inspired by the lipstick, the expectations for growth and cuteness of girls are reflected in the shape of leather finish and handle, which is presented in presentable Morandi color system, straight to girls’ heart!
Close to the window is the beam designed with en-framed scenery. With such ingenuity, the blue sky, clouds, stratified mountain views and tranquil rivers can leap to the eyes. With the change of the time of day and season, the ever-changing large landscaping paintings are available as if there is a valuable artist in your home. Then, with continuative gimmick again, the owner can harvest different angles of the most beautiful views either from the public or from the private domain.
