Unique Properties

Designer fully aware of the rich cultural deposit in the land of Shantui, manages to revive it in a unique artistic way, so that the thick volume of history is extended to unfold the brilliant legend of contemporary art. This design abandons the traditional mindset of decoration. Instead, it starts with the space, breaks down and reconstructs the impressions of work and life of Shantui in a "deconstruction" technique, and extracts the elements of Shantui history.

Production Technology

The "Time Shuttle" device consists of 1917 colorful lines, and materializes the shapes of light with the lines of gradual changes. It looks like a bright diamond in the spotlight, shining the beauty of the art of light. The "Time Shuttle Instrument" connects the memory with the modern machine. The orderly space-time flows incessantly, and the pointer traverses from 1917 to 2022. "Memory Shape" makes up a great architectural art installation with sparkling fragments of memory. From 1917 to 2022, the time and sparkling memory compose the shape of Shantui memory, looking natural and full of vitality.

Design Challenge

The challenge of this project was the tight timeline, the need to save costs and to integrate the local history and culture throughout the space.

Project Duration

The project started in December 2021 in Beijing and finished in April 2022 in Jining.

Operation Flow

Entering the Industrial Art Museum, the first space people encounter is "Time Casting". It takes the century-old brilliant Shantui history as the time context, and integrates the theme installations of modern technology, to create a unique spatial experience, so that people can feel like entering a time tunnel to start a journey of time.

Research

By collecting old objects in the long river of years, it recreates a three-dimensional relief texture picture. With the 90-year Shantui iconic locomotive as the main memory point, it unfolds a "Shantui Mechanical Memory Art Wall", in which familiar lathes, production parts and utensils wake up the warm memory of the Shantui people in a scene-sense sequence.

Inspiration

The Industrial Art Museum is designed by taking the history of Shantui as the spiritual core, while integrating the cultural heritage of the city. It follows the clue of "time" to connect the space, illustrate the past, present and future of the venue in a modern, minimalist aesthetic technique, link different spatial and temporal memories, and empower the inheritance of history and culture.
