Unique Properties

The design team cleverly selected various materials to stack up the texture and taste of the space, and at the same time chose materials to enlarge and extend the space or partition the space. For example, the display cabinets in the bar area are paved with stone textured panels, which visually echo the stone mineral coating on the dining room walls and the marble dining table, and used transparent glass as a partition to achieve overall spatial consistency.

Production Technology

Through the owner's preference for a modern and comfortable tone, the overall space is transformed in terms of color, material and design ingenuity, such as the marble of the dining room table with green mineral paint on the wall; the curved design, such as the ceiling and storage cabinets in the living room and entrance hall. The folding, sliding door made of rainbow glass versatilely allows the space to be open or closed, depending on the owner's usage needs.

Design Challenge

The original project site had the problem of structural aging, plus the impact of water leakage from the neighbor residences, so the construction period had to be extended. The two sides quickly reached a consensus on the design. In order to enlarge the space, the design team adopted open-plan design as the core, so that the bar area and kitchen area can appear visually spacious and not confined, also reinforced the structure of the building.

Project Duration

The project finished in July 2022 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Operation Flow

The homeowner hoped to turn this space into a studio and a private guest house, and preferred a comfortable and simple spatial ambience, so that the homeowner, who works in videography, can have a TV in the space where he or she spends a lot of time, such as the dining room and study, to meet his or her basic needs for work. In addition, the dining table can be transformed into a working table based on needs, while also offering a tasteful dining room space with excellent functionality.

Research

The open plan design is the main focal point of the whole space. The characteristics of different materials are cleverly combined to create a modern and diversified rich texture. On the left side of the TV wall in the living room, an arch-shaped display cabinet was designed to provide a visual effect in addition to storage and display functions. In addition, the flooring is defined by different material patterns, while the ceiling is designed with a curved shape to create a visual extension.

Inspiration

A modern design vocabulary is used as the starting point, with simple and smooth lines as well as a smooth curved design. Through the adept arrangement of the layout and movement flow, the visual guidance effect is brought into full play, creating a comfortable style of simplicity and restraint, and at the same time, the laying out of materials and colors injects a sense of softness into the space, allowing occupants to work and communicate at ease with others.

Project Overview

Arc Realm Residential has been a Iron winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution. Recipients of the Iron A' Design Award are acknowledged for their practical innovations and contributions to their respective fields, providing solutions that improve quality of life and foster positive change. These designs are a testament to the skill and dedication of their creators, showcasing their ability to address real-world challenges through thoughtful design.
