Office for PODNA
Modelhane aimed to bring a new perspective to the office and production workshop with its simple, light and permeable space setup. In this project, the design focused entirely on the journey of a product from production to finalization. The office, which also includes the production workshop, takes you on the journey of the bag. It connects different functioned areas to each other by establishing a permeable structure but did not obstruct any views within the space. After completing the journey of the production, the gallery welcomes you that defines the resulting product as an artwork.

Incorporating both an office and a handbag production workshop, Modelhane aimed to bring a fresh perspective to the workshop with its simple, light and permeable space setup. The space is open and uncluttered, with minimal partitions, allowing for a seamless flow of production process. The design aimed to create a cohesive yet distinct atmosphere within the space, with separators designed to differentiate different programs using bricks with varying geometries.

In this project, existing waffle structure on the ceiling, concrete, and an all-glass facade has inspired us to design a transparent and minimalist interior architecture. Because we didn't want to move away from concrete and glass as a material, we embarked on a search for lighter, more permeable, and different forms of material that can still incorporate concrete.
The project started in January 2023 in Istanbul and finished in March 2023.
Modelhane was designed with free plan and realized as a project where the interior architecture centered around three main spaces—meeting room with display area, workstations, and cutting room—structured based on the flow within. In order to separate the workstations from the cutting room in the production area, a semi-permeable material was chosen, achieving a silhouette effect to distinguish the cutting room from the main space.
While designing this project, apart from it being a production workshop and office, we aimed to create an atmosphere of an art gallery and laboratory. We wanted to integrate the precision and hygiene of the production workshop with the laboratory, ultimately defining the resulting product as an artwork and creating a sense of visiting an art gallery. Therefore, we aimed to design the space with light colors, where only the bags were colored.
