Residence for CHIH-MING Interior Design
The designer used marble with a terrazzo pattern to show vividness in the calm color. The linear lighting strips are elegantly curved along the facades as a highlight. In the fall, it is cool, breezy, and full of osmanthus fragrance. The open shelves are filled with memories of the whole year, and the displays change with the seasons. No barrier blocks the greetings of each other and strengthens the interaction and relationship between family members. The interior design brings the change of seasons into the space, brewing a sweet time for the family with time.

The open plan transforms the shortcomings of the space into its strengths. The central staircase is a combination of terrazzo and marble, which is calm and sensible and serves as a highlight. The interweaving of iron and marble in the openwork staircase connects the living and dining areas and the large floor-to-ceiling windows to the changing seasons. The designer utilized architectural techniques to incorporate natural elements into the work, revealing a calm and subtle look. The wood-grained architectural concrete preserves the natural traces and maximizes the natural light.

Materials: marble, tile, gray glass, wood grain architectural concrete, glass, ironwork, wood grain, etc. The color scheme is based on grey. The space is harmonized with the grayscale. The wood grain enhances the warmth and creates a pleasant atmosphere and the walls of the staircase and entrance are covered with marble. Terrazzo is lively, while linear lighting strips create a modern contemporary style.
The wood grain architectural concrete on the wall behind the sofa was quite challenging. The designer stacked the wood piece by piece and poured the concrete. The details and quality of the construction process had to be carefully controlled, including the uniformity of the concrete and the prevention of cracking. Errors may require reworking, which is a test of workmanship and time management. Although complex, the work creates a highly textured effect.
The project finished in October 2023 in Taiwan.
The designer created an unobstructed and unrestricted look in the long and narrow layout. He retained the ceiling height to eliminate oppression. The openwork design gives the whole space a lightweight effect. In terms of details, the linear lighting shows modern, the composite cabinets add variety, and the open shelves can be placed with differently according to the seasons, providing more possibilities for interaction and communication for each occupant. The family members can enjoy a comfortable and spacious living experience.
To reproduce nature in the interior, the design team used natural building materials, such as marble and wood grain architectural concrete, and allowed the natural texture of stone and wood to serve as a container to wrap the family's life. The project connects images and functions with a series of links, especially by transforming the staircase in the long and narrow layout into a highlight. The building materials represent natural elements, and the openwork design has various looks from different angles, perfectly connecting the style and theme of each area.
The site is a new house. Based on the landscape and greenery around the site, the designer applied many natural elements in the project, including wood grain architectural concrete and marble. The grey and harmonious color palette connects the changing seasons outside the window with the interior view. The design extends the meaning of time as the change of seasons. When people live in the space, they can have a dialog with the seasons outside the window.
