Festival Light Installation for Wingly Shih
This is a lighting installation designed for Christmas. Utilizing wooden lattice, the installation reveals its internal structure, forming the shape of a tree. Different and changing colors of light are projected onto canvases at the bottom of each layer, creating a vibrant and diverse display. The installation is situated near an old canal, the brilliant array of colors makes the entire installation a visual focal point, infusing the entire harbor area with a lively festive atmosphere.

Unique Properties
This is a lighting installation designed for Christmas. Utilizing wooden lattice, the installation reveals its internal structure, forming the shape of a tree. Different and changing colors of light are projected onto canvases at the bottom of each layer, creating a vibrant and diverse display. The installation is situated near an old canal, the brilliant array of colors makes the entire installation a visual focal point, infusing the entire harbor area with a lively festive atmosphere.

Design Challenge
The most difficult part was the structure of each wooden lattice. The structure had two curves, one for horizontal skirt under each layer and the other for vertical facade, and much more calculation was necessary than ordinary curved shape by lattice.
Project Duration
The project started in November 2023 in Tainan City, Taiwan and finished in December 2023. The installation was built for Christmas event which was held for 1 month.
Inspiration
We leverage historical elements of the city, planning colors that represent each era and transforming them into projected light hues. Employing the sailboat keel structure from the port's establishment 400 years ago, we create a rhythm with undulating curves, giving the entire tree an elegant and dynamic appearance.

Project Overview
Raised History Festival Light Installation has been a Iron winner in the Lighting Projects and Light Art Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution.
