Private Residence for T.K.CHU DESIGN
Hangzhou Eastern Garden is located in Hangzhou, China. A private music room located on the upper floor illuminates the whole project. For the purpose of guaranteeing the best acoustical environment, the sofa originally in the music room was moved backwards to the hallway. Before reform, the original shear wall and stairs broke the integrity and liquidity between the dining room and the living room. With the aim of solving the problem, the designer changes the position of the stairs and reforms the shear wall to increase their decoration attributes.

1. Well-selected acoustic materials from a Spanish brand, combine excellent acoustic performance and artistic beauty, with their dramatic geometric modeling to satisfy the house owner's continued desire for audio pleasure. 2. A series of high-quality materials such sequoia brown, Ti-coated stainless steel, eucalyptus wood, ebony and ultra-clear glass are also used during the design process.
The biggest obstacle that designer encountered when planning the floor is the T shear wall and stairs that lie between the living room and dining room. To solve the problem, designer moves its position opposite the entrance-hall and alter it to 6m decorating wall of fish-belly white stone, thus tactfully turning the pain point into the highlight. Moreover, the travertine and brown texture stone are showing off matte finish and erosion to accentuate the leading role of fish-belly white stone.
The project started in August 2015 and finished in May 2019 in Hangzhou.
The project is inspired by a family of music enthusiasts, which costs 5 years to create a space that enjoys a symbiotic relationship with music. Materials featured both Oriental and Modern characteristics and delicate art works with flexible lines and well-arranged order echo the music well, hence every element in the space welcoming each other in the most harmonious way.
The designer adheres to the methodology of regarding artworks as an organic whole of the space so as that the space and art fit each other in a perfect way and achieve each other with the most harmonious attitude. In this case, the swift curve along with well-organized artworks are like musical notes, echo owner's favorite music to bring the breath of romance and youth to every corner in the home.
After a design and construction period of over five years, a new mansion with 270 degree Qiantang river view in Hangzhou welcomes its owners. The mansion belongs to a family of music enthusiasts, which clearly determines the design concept of this project-creating a symbiotic relationship between music and space.
