With the original design concept, the application of fabric is not limited to the design of materials. Instead, it is comprehensive expression of diversified materials. For example, the use of materials such as metal, glass carving, cloth art and stone texture has surpassed the single clothing and space medium, thus, becoming a refreshing medium. Also, handicraft techniques are used on custom furniture. For example, the artistic flower ceiling up on the stair is designed by Sissi and hand made by craftsman. In the collection room on the B2 floor, works of art in different styles are displayed in a harmony atmosphere.
The design makes two-dimensional into three-dimensional through a new design structure. For instance, the ink marble floor sets an ink art background for the space; the organ pleats made of different materials is reflected on the wall and ceiling, making the space more flexible; the living room features numerous paintings, so that the entire living room is filled with artistic atmosphere; the collection room is designed with the flowing waterfall, achieving both visual and auditory artistic enjoyment. Fashion aesthetics runs through the entire space design, shaping it into a living place that combines fashion and art.
The project started in 2018 and finished in August 2019 in Beijing, China.
Structurally, high space is fully applied, which gives enough condition and environment for the collection display, especially the collection room on the B2 floor, which is connected with the dining room at B1 floor by a waterfall indoor. Secondly a great number of works of art and handicraft techniques are involved in the space as well as on decoration to express the client's taste. It could be seen every corner of the whole space. Finally, Ask Studio has successfully made the collections enter daily life from the altar, which speaks the essence of arts.
Ask Studio believes that fantastic design is able to interpret memory, create dreams, and transcend the boundaries between art and design, fashion and architecture, and finally build a personalized practical utopia.
The design concept is originally inspired by fashion. More precisely, it extends from the perspective of fabric manipulations to space design. If the human body is regarded as a three-dimensional sculpture, then the fashion clothing displayed through the human body medium can be regarded as another form of space design, wrapping the sculpture. So, clothing is a micro space in which people live.
