In this residential interior design, Qisi design tried a kind of family public space structure with "bookshelf device" as the center and other functional spaces arranged around it. Family Public Space, A Bookshelf Like a Turbine, Arc Fireplace, Family Gallery, Living Space Around Bookshelves, Home Office, Home Fitness, Heavy Moving Door
The cylindrical wooden device wrapping T-shaped structure wall is made by Carpenters on site. The large-size wooden door and metal frame glass door can move flexibly through the H-shaped heavy pulley track fixed on the beam. The wires are hidden on the side of the pulley track. Customized metal rods and professional hooks allow residents change paintings or adjust the hanging position of paintings flexibly.
The most difficult part of this design activity is three points. The first is how to deal with the structural walls that affect the spatial integrity. The second is how to put sofa and TV will not affect the openness of space. The last is to solve the construction and installation of heavy movable door.
The design started in February 2020 and finished in March 2020 in Shanghai. The construction started in May 2020 and finished in November 2020 in Shanghai.
The family public space of is a large space composed of three original rooms. These areas are all connected together to form a coherent spatial experience. The study and viewing area are separated by sliding doors. The platform area serves as a space for children to play and a temporary guest room. At the back of the sofa is a family gallery created by track type spotlight and metal rod.
The type of research is qualitative research. The research objectives is to explore what kind of family public space urban youth families need. The research method are questionnaire and literature survey. The designer conducted a questionnaire survey on the users of the apartment and summarize experience by reading similar cases. The research result is that freedom, flexibility, possibility, home office, home sports, sense of art are the key words of young family living.
