Arcadian Cruise is all about simple elegance, not flashy luxury. The owners and designer worked closely together to create this look, blending a ship-like feel with the coziness of a family home. The house is easy to care for and filled with sunlight, making it very comfortable. This home is like a piece of art, reflecting the owners' love of the sea and clever use of different materials and textures. It feels like being on a yacht. The wavy ceiling in the living room, the light colors, and the rounded corners on walls all remind you of being on the water.

Unique Properties

Arcadian Cruise represents sophistication as the opposite of superficial grandiosity. Achieving such a modest demonstration of luxury while balancing a nautical theme and the warmth needed for a family house required constant collaboration between the owners and the designer, fostering a creative environment. The desire for natural aesthetics explains the choice of materials. Through its creative use of fabric and leather, Arcadian Cruise perfectly balances the organic and the exquisite.

Production Technology

Upon entering the house, the partition grilles serve as a clear division of space, preventing the line of vision from being obscured and allowing abundant light to maintain the spacious feel of the area. Textile wallcoverings and leather surfaces on the partition grilles were incorporated. The handrail and the balusters of the staircase are crafted using saddle leather by stretching and utilizing the entire leather surface. Handcrafted stitching further accentuates the uniqueness of the design.

Project Duration

The apartment, located in Taipei City, finished on May 2024.

Operation Flow

The design employs oversized ceramic tiles with epoxy finish for the flooring. The ease of maintenance and longevity, along with desire for natural aesthetics, dictate the choice of the material. The common area on the upper deck enjoys maximum openness using a large folding paned glass door. The abundance of natural light minimizes the need for artificial lighting during daytime. The greenery also ensures the physical and mental health of the residents living in the city.

Inspiration

This abode is a work of art painted with the owners' love for nautical aesthetics and the ingenious use of textures and materials. The design evokes the image of a yacht, the layout was inspired by the upper and lower deck structure. Keeping the view of the common space on the upper deck not only creates an uplifting atmosphere but also preserves the family's need for privacy on the lower deck.

Arcadian Cruise Apartment has been a Bronze winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
