Hotel for CHUN FU DEVELOPMENT
The master Ma Paisui painting The Beauty of Taroko transforms the local landscape such as the foggy hillside, the Changchun Temple, and the Changguang Temple into a colorful ink painting. Inspired by the exquisite local aesthetics, the design team combines the beauty of Taroko with architecture to figuratively present mountain ridge, the soughing of the wind in forest trees and tidal lines, using architectural forms to sing and speak to the land of literature and art, bringing the beauty of the place with poetic strokes, and bringing warm and comforting narration to the traveling guests.

Master Ma Paisui painting The Beauty of Taroko inspires the design team on designing the exterior part of the building with the strange and magnificent mountains and rocks and the undulating sea of greenery in the lower part of the building, which is transformed into 3D pentagonal geometry and the triangles on the corridor and the ceiling. Furthermore, the undulating sea waves on the exterior walls of the building, bring the natural appearance of Hualien to the visitors provides a comfortable and convenient resting place.
Hualien, Natural Appearance, Sea waves, Mountain Ridge
The exterior of the first floor is designed with the concept of the undulating ridge of the mountains. The beams and columns are shaped to form a pentagonal geometry, and a wooden grille is used on the upper part to bring a transparency and penetration feeling. Besides the triangular shape, the building facade is also designed with the natural impression of the sea's waves, and the light-weight transparent glass brings in the outdoor scenery, enabling the building to penetrate and introduce the outdoor natural environment.
According to the statistics, more than 90% of people die during earthquakes because of building collapse. By this tragedy, once again awakening people's awareness of earthquake crisis prevention. Thus, in order to meet the goals of seismic design regulations and to protect the safety of the tourists, the geological characteristics and seismic zone coefficients of the site were taken into the consideration since the beginning of the construction planning of the Lakeshore Hotel Hualien.
The project was completed in March 2021 in Hualien City, Taiwan.
The Lakeshore Hotel Hualien not only architecturally embraces the magnificent natural scenery of clouds, mountains, forests, and the sea of Eastern Taiwan, but is also located on the side of the Taiwan Provincial Highway 9 which provides direct access to the international airport, train stations, international seaports and other important scenic spots in Hualien. The hotel also looks out over the clear blue ocean to the east and the verdant mountains to the west, providing a comfortable travel experience for visitors with an open.
The hotel not only symbolizes the local cultural spirit but also provides a comfortable place for visitors from far away to relax. The Lakeshore Hotel Hualien incorporates the unique natural scenery of Hualien, such as clouds, mountains, forest, and sea, into the exterior of the building. Adopts master Ma Paisui's painting The Beauty of Taroko to transform mountains, forest waves, and waves into pentagonal and triangular geometries, which are presented on the corridor and ceiling of the first floor, and the exterior of the building also uses undulating lines to outline the image of waves.
The Lakeshore Hotel Hualien is located on the vast coastline of the Eastern Pacific Ocean and the luxuriant mountains that stretch for miles. Inspired by the mountains and the sea, the architect takes the edges and corners of the mountains and the waves of the sea as images and combines them with the painting The Beauty of Taroko by master Ma Paisui to visualize the majestic atmosphere of Taroko, which is surrounded by fog and mist.
