Display Center, Light And Shadow, open courtyards
This architectural form is a building group fully integrated with the environment, extracting the curves from the changes of mountain and water landscape forms as the lines of the building facade, and modernizing the interpretation of Nanning natural landscape with an atmospheric and simple approach. By adopting rock slices as elements stacked into spreading curves for the main entrance, the urban interface is tenser. Taking "Wood" as the main concept, the Entrance Square allows the quite vital trees to pass through the top here, metaphorically indicating the phoenix in the phoenix tree; drawing the characteristics from the Guangxi terraces, it creates large-scale landscape steps and sunken courtyard; With cloud shape pieces to design and build the corridor, the characteristic art promenade has stirred people's imagination.
In the cultural context of local characteristics, how to integrate local multi-cultural elements, and the design of pedestrian circulation in the post-epidemic era. Nanning also known as Yongzhou, often attracted the literati to enjoy "Eight Landscapes of Yongzhou" in ancient times. We have extracted its seven natural textures of rock, wood, terrace, waterfall, cloud, pool and mountain as design elements to build City Interface, Entrance Square, Landscape Steps, Multimedia Hall, Sales Center, Landscape Corridor and Canyon Swimming Pool, presenting "Seven Landscapes of Tanjing".
The project started in Mar. 2020 and finished in Nov.2020 in Nanning, China
For space design, it breaks the single function of the traditional display center and shapes a multifaceted communication space, adopting a tandem flow design to avoid the people gathering and presenting a roaming experience. The multiple open courtyards have released more public space to the city and created a humanistic, healthy and technological supporting community.
The entrance of the Display Center is subtly arranged at the end of the art promenade, combined with the shape of rock slices elements, interpenetrating with the pool and merging with the reflection. Under the light and shadow projection, it looks like a bright phoenix eye.
Located in the Core Living Area of Wuxiang Lake, Nanning, Guangxi Province, Tanjing Display Center enjoys easy traffic access and complete surrounding facilities. Upholding the concept to show respect for history and reverence for the land, architects have integrated the diverse cultural veins of Nanning to create Tanjing community facility series under "One City, One Tanjing". Throughout Tanjing architecture series, there is no consistent style or aesthetics, the only connection lies in the living environment that people feel is closely related to the current urban conditions.
